Tried @roohbymaharaja_cleveland for dinner last night – they have just done a refurb/rebrand and only reopened for dine in on Wednesday (I think?)

Food was DELICIOUS. We got the nibbles bowl to snack on when we got our beers, then onion bhaji and lamb kebabs for entrees. The onion bhaji was delicious, and the lamb kebabs had a bit of kick to them, but not offensively so. Then the butter chicken (we shared) came out with garlic naan, and spinach and cheese naan. Naans were crispy and full of flavour – not dripping in grease which was great. Butter chicken had great flavour, and the chicken was so tender.

So glad we gave it a go – it might have to be our new curry place, as it’s 10 mins closer to home! Thank you!

Been going here for about 10+ years for Indian as it’s been the best Indian I have ever had.
However….. don’t know what has happened or since the renovation or if it’s changed owners or chefs but the food was to a point of inedible.
We got a butter chicken and coconut rice with a naan bread.
The chicken was burnt, the sauce is completely different from previous years and extremely sweet and sugary. Same with the rice, I wouldn’t call it coconut rice as it taste like mouthfuls of sugar….
Naan bread was burnt until it was black. I am not exaggerating when I explain this. We could not eat it and had to request a refund from uber eats.
Extremely disappointing as now I will never buy from here again and I’ll need to find somewhere else to find my Indian.

Endless serve of rice.
Service is ok..friendly waitress.
Atmosphere…light music would be good.

Been going to Maharaja for years ,but honestly this is the best it’s ever been ! New owners have given it a new lease on life and the curries are absolutely on point ! Service is top notch and prices are quite reasonable. If you came here a few years ago I highly recommend you try it again ,you won’t be disappointed

Lots of Gluten Free Options as all curries are Gluten Free. Staff knowledgeable about cross contamination when it comes to food prep for Coeliac. Delicious meal along with friendly service.

Sakshi was very helpful to make the right menu choice when choosing dinner tonight. She had customer service skills, delightful manners and is worth her weight in gold and food is always delicious!

While there are planned renovations we ordered takeaway pick up. We were so disappointed. It’s nothing like it was and the portions and quality were way below price point. The kulcha was okay but the butter paneer looked awful and fully tasted like honey. The chilli prawn curry was the consistency of jam also with tastes that were unexpectedly poor. The portion on order says small but at around $17-18 each for a total of around $43-44 this would have been poor value even if it tasted okay won’t be back anymore as something has gone very wrong compared to what it was like

Disappointing, the vegetarian curry had the consistency of soup a little flavour other than the chilli.
We’re really keen to order more regularly locally, will try again in a few months. Just suggest maybe you go to Wellington point and check out why everyone raves about their curries and just try and do something different because each time we try we just end up having to order with Uber from 15 km away. maybe just a bad night. there are lots of people in Cleveland who really want a good curry! Put your charge up by one or two dollars if you need to have a good product. sorry about the rant!

My friend celebrated her birthday in Maharaja yesterday. We enjoyed the great food they serve us especially the cheese naan and the favourite buttered chicken. So sumptuous and very filling. They even give us free dessert with a candle for the celebrant. Customer service is excellent! Thank you.
