We started off with the shrimp shumai and that was pretty solid. I ordered the Panang curry it was very flavorful and had a good amount of kick to it. Definitely my favorite out of the different Thai restaurants I’ve tried. The service was on point and the atmosphere was normal.

If you value your health, read this.

I ordered the Ba-Mee Poo (crab noodles). The moment the bowl hit the table, the crab meat smelled spoiled — sour, ammonia-like, the kind of smell you don’t mistake. I told the staff immediately. They microwave the meat.

Their response?
They offered to remake the dish… but when I asked if they had fresh crab meat, they admitted they did not. Meaning they were willing to “fix it” by serving me the same batch of spoiled crab again.

Let that sink in.

A restaurant knowingly offering to reuse spoiled seafood isn’t a simple mistake — it’s a food safety failure & a complete disregard for customer wellbeing.

I declined the crab & asked for the dish to be remade without it. Yet somehow, crab still ended up in the new bowl. Whether it was sloppiness, carelessness, or just ignoring my request, it sent one message loud & clear:
the kitchen is not paying attention, & they are not taking food safety seriously.

This wasn’t about flavor or preference. This was about being served seafood that should’ve been thrown out hours ago.

For a place with this much hype, I expected integrity in the kitchen. Instead, I got spoiled crab, a remake offer using the same spoiled crab, & a “new” dish that still had crab in it after I said no.

This is unacceptable.
Freshness and safety aren’t optional — they’re the bare minimum.

Nice place with a good atmosphere and friendly servers. I tried something I had never had before, so hard to compare, but it was tasty. Both me and my wife were satisfied with our meals but had expected more. We both asked for very spicy, and it really wasn’t. They gave us spices to add and warned how hot they were. I prefer to have the chef make the food delicious and not have to modify it at the table. I guess many people ask for spicy and don’t realize how hot it might be, so they water it down, but when someone come in and speaks Thai, maybe you should make it authentic.

The atmosphere in the restaurant is decorated to resemble Thailand, even though it’s located in Chicago.
The service is excellent, and the food has an authentic Thai taste. The papaya salad is well balanced, the pad kra pao is dry, spicy, and perfectly salty. If you’re looking for truly authentic Thai flavors, I highly recommend this place

Worth trying for some good Thai food! Since walking in, you’re greeted by traditional music, and I love the Thai flags in the dishes! Service is great and offer great suggestions if you don’t know what to order or have doubts. Taste is there in the dishes, make sure you handle your spice level, otherwise order it non-spicy!
The drinks menu is also extensive, the fruit sodas are a must! We will be back soon!

I had the chance to dine at Mahanakhon Noodle Bar, and I was pleasantly surprised by how many Asian customers were there—it’s usually a good sign that the food is authentic! The menu offers a great variety of Thai dishes, and I ended up ordering two items. Both were incredibly flavorful, with that well-balanced, authentic Thai taste.

If you’re someone who enjoys quality Thai food, I highly recommend this place. The restaurant is a bit small, so if you can make a reservation in advance, it’ll definitely help. I went on a Sunday night around 8:00 PM, and nearly every table was full. That says a lot about how popular this spot is. Great food, good vibes—definitely worth a visit!

Stumbled here by accident. This Thai restaurant is amazing, The service is great the waiter answered all of my questions. I was so excited to hear that they did make Lao style papaya salad. If you know, you know, it comes with a strong fermented crab sauce. It was amazing 10 out of 10 obsessed, The waiter had to show a separate menu set. Lol I felt special I will definitely be back here again!

The food here is definitely authentic. I want to highlight two braised dishes though: the slow cooked beef basil stir fried and Leng the sour and spicy pork stew. Just these two dishes are already a good reason why you should visit these places. The texture of soft-tenderness is so enjoyable. The basil stir fried can be spicier for a Thai standard but the pork soup is on point! Anyway, this is a good representative Thai restaurant in the city.

I ordered Tom yum soup noodles and it was well seasoned and tasty. The food overall was more on the sweeter side for me but the service was good though.

Been wanting to try this place out for a while after a Thai lady from my local Thai market suggested to come here (particularly for their Papaya salad).

My friend and I were very impressed with the authenticity of the food as well as the great options that they had.

We started off with a skewer appetizer which was good, but honestly the Leng hot pot soup option and the papaya salad truly hit the mark. My friend who’s been to Thailand many times told me that this tastes basically identical to the street food flavors he had in Bangkok.

The service was also perfect and friendly. They constantly came to refill our water cups as well.

The spice levels are also not something to ignore. We ordered the “medium” spicy options, and we both felt that it was true to a Thai level of spice. We both can handle spice fairly well, so I’d imagine the hot and Thai hot to pretty intense.

Next time we said we definitely want to try the boat noodles based off of the other reviews and recommendations. Everything here looks fire!
