Two of us in late age. Vegetarians. We ordered 4 small plates which had more vegetarian options. We had a mushroom chanterelle tart, sauced greens (vegs in soy sauce with nuts), cauliflower fritters and vegs fritters. Every dish had a good spin on basic ingredients. Cauliflower fritters came with a yogurt sauce beautifully flavored. The chef had tried to make vegetarian food interesting and he has succeeded. Compliments to Chef!

Came from out of town to go shopping, stopped here to eat lunch based on a friend’s recommendation. The food and the service is excellent here. I’m really glad we came.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Magpie in downtown Sac, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish!

The highlight of my meal was the perfectly cooked chicken. It was tender, juicy, and seasoned to perfection, making every bite a true delight. Accompanied by seasonal vegetables, each ingredient was fresh and vibrant, showcasing the best of what the season has to offer. The combination of flavors was beautifully balanced, creating a dish that was both satisfying and delicious

To complement my meal, I ordered a Lemon Drop beverage, and it did not disappoint! It was incredibly refreshing and added a delightful twist to my dining experience.

Overall, my time at Magpie was remarkable. I left feeling completely satisfied and eager to return. Whether you’re looking for a casual dinner or a special night out, this restaurant will not disappoint.

We’ve been to Magpie many times, but this was our first time skipping the Chicken for Sharing (which is always delicious). Instead, we tried the Dine Downtown menu and found it to be a great deal. We both really enjoyed the salad course and the bread with hummus. I had the gnocchi with duck confit while my partner had the steelhead, and both were fantastic. The smaller portion of avocado chocolate mousse was the perfect finishing touch. As always, thank you Magpie!

This place code much more as a high class restaurant than as a cafe. We came here for my birthday and the food was exquisite and creative. I enjoyed a perfectly prepared piece of trout and a beautiful and creative bowl of cauliflower soup. After a couple.of.cocktails.we finished up with a fantastic Yam Mousse. Our server Elena was knowledgeable and attentive and it was a great atmosphere

The food, excellent. Seriously. This is an airport. Most airport restaurants are hit or miss as far as quality and imagination. Magpie hits it out of the park. The delicious breakfast was the perfect way to start our cross country journey.
Where they lost a star (I debated taking two stars away, but the food was sooo good, four stars it is) was with the lag in service.
Our server was friendly and accommodating…when we could find her. After not seeing our server for several minutes, we asked the hostess for our check. She directed us to our server who was not on the restaurant floor. 10 minutes later our server appeared. We threw a credit card at her without even seeing the bill. And then…she disappeared again…for another 10 minutes. The couple sitting near us also inquired if we had seen our server. I must also add, the restaurant was not busy, possibly 5 or 6 tables with three servers.
For an airport restaurant, time and timing is of the essence. We gave ourselves an hour for a sit-down breakfast. This is typically plenty of time with time to spare. In the end, we jogged to our gate.

This is hands down my favorite restaurant in Sacramento. Everyone is always so kind, service is top notch, food and drinks are DELICIOUS. The flavor combinations are always unique and seasonal. I think it’s the best quality to price ratio in Sacramento. My partner and I go pretty often and they make us feel like part of the family. I would especially like to shoutout Tyrone, who always makes the most delicious drinks, even when I ask for all my kooky prohibition-era favorites. But truly, everyone who works at Magpie is so wonderful. I highly recommend their beet salad, burger, BLT, duck skin toast (when they have it), miso radishes, and honestly any special they have is always 10/10 (they had this insane banh mi/yorkshire pudding mashup that was life changing). Check it out if you somehow haven’t been!

I had a great experience at Magpie. The food was absolutely delicious, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor. The service was warm and attentive, and the atmosphere made the whole experience even better. You can really feel the care and passion behind everything they do. I’ll definitely be coming back.

Went out for a dinner date without a plan. Showed up 30 mins before closing and asked if they would still serve us. Generously, they said of course. We ordered our food right away to help the kitchen, but the staff didn’t rush us at all. A bottle of crémant + 4 small plates was perfect to share. Pork belly with sticky candy sauce and frizee apple salad was the star of the show. First time outside of Asia that I had perfectly-cooked pork belly: the fatty bits were liquid hot and made the meat crisp outside and juicy inside. Veggie tempura was a generous portion of crunchy green onion, chile guero and asparagus. We also had lamb meatballs and one arancine. We moved to the bar and they let us stay pretty late talking over our bottle. Thanks to everyone’s gracious attitude it was a lovely evening. Impressed with the service.
