Great family run dinner/meat market. Warning their BBQ sauce is very unique. My wife and I really liked it. But it’s not your normal Texas sauce. Wished we had brought a cooler to be able to take some of the steaks with us since we were just passing through. The burgers and loaded potato were really good. Amazing fries.

DELICIOUS! I actually heard about this place from a Reddit post about places to stop on a road trip across Texas and I’m so glad I listened! It’s home cooked food, calories-not-monitored, but worth every single bite. It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but I knew it was going to be good when we saw the parking lot was overflowing into the grass. Luckily there was still an open table inside and we were welcomed by the sweetest staff and our waitress was just as wonderful. So many things looked good on the menu, but I couldn’t resist ending this road trip with another taste of chicken fried steak to compare to Mary’s (and they can definitely compete because it was AWESOME)! We also tried the chicken fried chicken (delicious), sweet potato casserole (amazing), Mae’s potato casserole (tasty), cheese sticks (good), and the hamburger and fries which was obviously delicious enough that my picky daughter almost finished it – which says a LOT!
We were very glad that we’d ordered the “smaller portions” for lunch because it meant we could grab a few of the desserts to go to snack on for our final leg of the road trip and keep enjoying at home. We tried the toffee cake (incredible), peanut butter cake (sinfully good), and the coconut pie (very light and creamy)! We also snagged some items to take home with us from their coolers and I can 100% recommend their pork tamales and summer sausage. If you get the chance to stop here, you won’t regret it at all! Delicious, great service, and good portions!

Stopped on a whim traveling down I-20. Was actually off path and just saw the café and the parking lot was full (= good food).
Ran into two people I knew, both were traveling and not from this area… can’t hide from anyone.
Great steak fingers on the lunch special and my wife had a great homemade turkey sandwich. Burgers looked good on the next table.
Cold day, coffee was great for lunch.
Reasonable prices and great service. Good Cafe atmosphere!
Put this on the “must stop” list

This is the place to eat in Eastland Texas! Fabulous and fresh food that is cooked “home style”. They have some unique menu items and “Today’s Specials”. I had the Fried Pig Tails. They are fantastic! Basically the Fried Pig Tails are pork loin cut into strips then chicken fried. The salad bar was fresh and really nice.
Service is friendly and fast. I highly recommend the Maes Meat Market!

We watch The Daytripper with Chet Garner and found this place watching his Cisco/Eastland daytrip. If you want ideas for daytrips in Texas, google “the daytripper with Chet Garner”.
We each ordered a different menu item. Chicken fried steak fingers (HUGE), piggy tales (HUGE), chopped BBQ sandwich, fried green tomatoes, corn nuggets…
Their macaroni and cheese is different from what one expects, so if you are expecting the typical mac & cheese, pick an addtional side in case you do not like it. I liked the mac & cheese but the other 2 in our group did not.
Exit the highway and try the non-franchise restaurants along your trip.

If you’ve never been to Mae’s Meat Market & Cafe, you’re missing out. We first stopped in a couple of months ago while passing through and fell in love. I had the Monte Cristo, my husband had the Reuben, and both were amazing. We also grabbed some of their in house seasonings to take home and now we are already ready for refills because they are just that good.
Today we finally got to stop in again. I went for The Piggytails, which are strips of pork loin breaded and fried like chicken fried steak, and my husband ordered the Texas Club. The Piggytails were so tender I do not think I will ever want regular chicken fried steak again. The Texas Club was loaded with delicious ingredients and tasted just as good as it looked.
The food is fantastic, the service is friendly, and the quality never disappoints. Mae’s has definitely become one of our must-stop spots whenever we are in the area.

The best sweet potatoe fries around! We had a cheeseburger on jalopeno sourdough bun and a grilled chicken salad and they were both excellent!

Hidden gem alert yooo!!! Made a pit stop on the way to Dallas for lunch and I was surprised wonderfully ☺️. Great service and hospitality and the vibe was amazing. I ordered the 6oz Sirloin steak…OMG it was one of the best steak I had so far and hands down the best cut of Sirloin I ever had. Perfectly made, tender, Juicy and the flavor was just on point. I tried the bacon wrapped asparagus for the first time and was blown away . You can also buy fresh cut of meat, seasonings, home made beef jerky, sausage, cheese….and many more. Its a great family run business. Will be back and definitely recommend .

Damn tasty club Sammie. Slab ham and slab turkey. Not just slices. Wonderfull atmosphere smells great in there as they are making and smoking meat at the meat market. And the onion rings nice and crispy. Judy had the grilled fish
tacos. Great flavor.
