Everyone who served us was super friendly. Can’t wait to come back.
We were in a time crunch so we definitely appreciated how fast the food came out. Every item was a delight, especially the sauce that came with the Poached and Dipped Beef. The beef in the noodles were so tender, and the soups were so comforting and flavorful! I highly recommend checking this place out.
We got the signature boat noodle soup (small only) with beef and thin rice noodles, Tom Yum Noodle soup with pork and egg noodles, and the chili basil stir fry with chicken. The standout dish was the Tom Yum with its perfect flavor profile: not too much coconut or lime flavor dominating the soup.
The service is nice and attentive, environment is simple, but clean.
There’s plenty of parking at this location underground so easy for any return visits we plan.
If you’re looking for a low-key, reasonably priced Thai dinner Mae Thai is absolutely worth a visit.
Mae Malai Thai House of Noodles is located in a plaza in Thai Town. Although the surrounding streets are just as hectic as the rest of Los Angeles, the plaza is a surprising respite offering a parking lot with ample parking. If there’s no parking spaces above, try going underground.
The restaurant is small yet popular, so there’s sometimes a bit of a wait even on weekday nights. Bar seating is available for smaller parties. Service can also be a bit hectic as the floor is busy and seemingly understaffed. I tried asking for a Thai tea after we put in our order – that Thai tea never made an appearance at our table, but given how the servers were hustling and bustling, I didn’t want to bother them about it.
The food is delicious. The noodles are perfectly chewy. And I recommend dessert too as the roti banana is very good.
The Kao soi – Chicken curry was very very good.
The crispy pork with vegs was excellent!
Omelette was excellent!
The fried rice was decent.
Im a huge fan of Thai food, I’ll eat it every day if I can. It’s located in a shopping center with underground parking. I just went to the underground parking and parked.
I ordered Mae Malai’s House special (the one with blood broth.) My fiance ordered the coconut drink! The flavors on my dish were amazing, it had the right amount of heat and it didn’t have a real irony flavor from the blood in comparisons to other similar soups I’ve had.
This place for any Thai food fun is an absolute must in Los Angeles.
Go right now!
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!
The Thai iced milk tea was also really good.
Staff were friendly and kind
The restaurant itself was very neat and clean. The Thai Iced coffee I had was delicious and the Golden Bags were absolutely amazing! I tried the Original Boat Noodles and it was pretty good however I had asked for beef as my meat option and recieved a mixture of some beef, a Pork Meatball, and Tripe(which I am not a fan of) because of this mix up I have to rate this restaurant lower. I may try them again in the future but they’re no longer at the top of my list in this area.
