It was my first time here and I will probably not go back. The cashier was so nice and friendly.i just didn’t like the food. The cashier got so confused I really wanted to help her. The food didn’t come out together. The food didn’t even come in the right order and some of the food wasn’t even ours. It was a mess.

I am a regular patron of all places on the Westbank that serve Vietnamese fare, and was eager to try this place. I read other reviews about Mae-mae, and they are all glowing with 5 stars. I really wanted to give this place 5 stars, but it was not meant to be. Besides me and my husband, there was only one other table with 4 people. The kitchen seemed slow and disorganized, or maybe there was a disconnect between the kitchen and waitstaff. We were all treated to complimentary fried pickes, which was super nice!! My pho, however, didn’t have all the flavors of spices that I have enjoyed elsewhere. I had grilled pork bahn-mi for the first time, which was good. The spring rolls were just grilled pork because they were out of shrimp. My husband got the bun, which was okay. The grilled pork was not grilled as I have had it elsewhere. It was more like little pieces of sauteed chicken. I witnessed a member of the kitchen “cleaning” his nostrils with a paper towel and then not washing his hands; my chief complaint. Thankfully, our food had already been served or I would have likely just left. I don’t know if I will go back.

Upon entering I had my hopes set very high. I’ve only ever heard good things about this place. But alas, I am very disappointed. After a while of waiting I noticed people who had ordered after me were already getting their food. I didn’t think too much of it because it seemed like it was mostly apps and sandwiches, and I had ordered a rice plate so I assumed it may take a while longer. But 10 turned into 25 minutes which turned into 35 minutes. And finally they bring plates out, oh but wait, they weren’t mine. They were for the family of four that ordered about 10 minutes after me. And what did they order? Rice plates. Finally there’s was a plate brought to my table, but let me emphasize A. My boyfriends plate came out and he was able to basically finish it all before mind even touched the table. Finally I had food, only to find out it wasn’t my plate but my boyfriends. And all while this happened, the only time we were spoken to was after my boyfriend recieced the plate and it was quickly ran to us that they were short handed. And the food was honesty horrific. The meat was covered in grease that was I guess supposed to be passed off as flavor. Never going back and never recommending it to anyone.

Portion/Price ratio is not there. Tend to cater to the lowest common customers (unsavvy westener pallet) which is logical if you consider the geographical location of the restaurant. My stats are vietnamese dishes, have not try the korean dishes.

The food was good. I had the boom boom shrimp. The problem was I couldn’t get everything I wanted because the guy who cooked certain dishes wasn’t there. Also they didn’t have certain items.
