When I say good and authentic South Indian food is in the suburbs of Chicago, this is exactly what I mean. We came for lunch and opted for a la carte instead of their Father’s Day buffet.
The mysore masala dosa came with sambar and three chutneys: tomato, coconut, and peanut. The dosa had delicious toasty flavors with a proper mild tang from fermentation but the mysore paste didn’t add anything much taste-wise. The sambar was thick, well-spiced, and full of vegetables. All three chutneys were solid and well-balanced. The daal tarka was comforting though slightly undersalted. But nothing came close to the Andhra chicken curry. The gravy was bursting with bold flavors and just the right amount of heat. Sitting in the gravy were big pieces of unbelievably tender bone-in chicken, soaked through with all that incredible spice.

Highly recommend for anyone craving for Madurai style non vegetarian food. Cute and cozy restaurant, authentic, everything tasted like home cooked meals. We had chicken Kothu parata, mutton chukka, chicken Biriyani , Madurai style fish curry and parota. I’m not a big fan of kothuparota but this one was hands down the best I have ever had, it was moist and full of flavor. Everything we ordered was so delicious. Their masala soda was also very refreshing. Goes so well with spicy food. Instead of desserts, we had Jigarthanda and Mango lassi, both were so good. By far one of our best Indian restaurants. We left with our stomach and heart full on a cold wintery day during holidays. Only downside is the space is very small and toilets need some upgrades. Hopefully they will expand and attract more customers. We will surely come back !

My go-to Indian spot in Chicago — a total must-visit if you’re craving that Tamil Nadu magic! Been here twice and it never disappoints. The parotta and Thalapakatti biryani? Still drooling just thinking about it. Authentic flavors, comforting vibes — love it!

Madurai Kitchen is a nice place to grab tasty South Indian cuisine. They have a wide variety of dishes on their menu and they are reasonably priced. The food is prepared fresh and has a good flavor. The service is good and the atmosphere is nice. Go check them out.

The restaurant was very spacious. And a decent ambiance. The service was great and the staff were so polite and friendly. The food was good. We tried the chicken chukka and porota combo and the Kari dosa. Both were awesome, however this is my 1st time trying Kari dosa so I was expecting a different taste. I personally did not like the dosa base, the masala was tasty though. May be it was just taste buds.. lol. The chicken 65 was delicious.

First time visit there today. Was impressed by the number of items on the menue. The list just seemed never ending. Also, everything sounded so yum, but I only had one stomach :). The food was beyond yumm! It was true South Indian taste. My husband loves goat and he is not easy to please, but he loved it too! They serve in Indian steel thali and the dosa orders are served on banana leaf on thali. Such authentic taste. I’ll come back here every week till I am able to get through most of the menue!!

We went with friends today to try their food. Good hospitality, good interior but only less seatings. When we went there only 4 groups were there. We ordered parota, biryani and starter. We all loved the taste and bring back our South Indian flavors. Both veg and non veg salna are good. But 2 parota and veg salna for 15$ is too pricey. Also goat biryani is 19$ . They took some times to serve. Also I like to point out few things we don’t like. They don’t take orders or bring bills. We all have to order online and pay immediately though we are dine in. Also the utensils used look good but they are very thick and dented inside , so it has less quantity but looks big with the server ware. We can visit once a month but not often because of price. If they, reduce the price . I can say there will be large crowd in this restaurant for their authentic South Indian flavors. Last I definitely I have to appreciate their wonderful parota . So soft and taste like we get in South Indian street shop. I would visit again if the price are reduced and increased the quantity.

Great service! The employees were very nice and welcoming and very helpful. We enjoyed our food! The Chicken & shrimp Masala, Thalapakattu Chicken Biriyani and the Mysore Masala Dosa were all amazing. The dishes were clean and we loved the aesthetics of the whole building, from the doors to the cups and ware, it was a great experience. Overall, a great experience and would highly recommend if you’re craving the best dishes from India.

The food here is really tasty. You can select 3 levels of spice: mild, medium, and spicy. If you don’t love things super spicy, order the mild. Even then, expect some heat.
We had the chicken 555 – medium (wonderful spice; a lot of heat), butter chicken – medium (tender and delicious; a lot of heat), shrimp biryani – mild (great flavor; moderately hot), and naan (plain and garlic – both excellent).
Ordering and paying is done on a web-based menu, so bring your smart phone.
I can’t wait to go back to try the tandoori chicken.

This establishment should be reported to the authorities for failing to provide receipts. In the United States, it’s unheard of for a business not to issue a paid receipt.
They exclusively accept cash payments and don’t provide receipts for food purchases, which is highly unusual. It seems as though the owners or employees might be involved in shady practices to evade taxes by omitting bills.
When I inquired about this, the two employees in the restaurant responded, “This is how we handle catering, and everyone accepts it, so what’s the issue?”
Just because others accept this practice doesn’t make it right. Refusing to provide receipts is both deceptive and potentially illegal.
To add insult to injury, the food was absolutely terrible. I’ve never had such a disappointing “Madurai Biryani.” It tasted like Andhra food with the “Madurai” name slapped on, which is a disservice to authentic Madurai cuisine.
