It’s a small, fuss free place.
This place just opened and we tried the egg kothu parotta, chicken 65, kal dosa, and filter coffee.
Everything tasted so good- the korma and the sambar are highlights. The dosa was reasonably sized and crispy. The portions are decent sized.
The filter coffee was a little too milky and wish there was more dedication.
Edit after 2 months: we’ve been here over 5 times and one thing I noticed is that the food is not consistent. The kothu parotta sometimes comes with Salna and sometimes does not. The kuzhi panniyaram was burnt a few times. The Idiyappam does not come with a side.
We really want this place to flourish but the inconsistent food and taste makes it tough.
1. The Kingfish try was spoilt. Took a bite and it spit it out. Just ended up throwing it away. Clearly old frozen food. This needs to be reported to health department.
2. Chicken sukha. Sukha is supposed to be dry (like the pictures you see on their menu). What we received looks like wet cat chow (see picture). Wet slop. I didn’t even attempt to try it but my husband did and confirmed it was a a gross as it looked.
3. Online menu has no prices. Receipt doesn’t either (see picture).
4. Quantity. See pics
Mostly they use chicken salna for egg dishes. So, if you are vegetarian who eats egg, make sure to check with them before you order.
Must try place for any one who loves South Indian delicacies!
Unfortunately, it was a big disappointment. The Parotta Master was clearly not in that night, and the two boys behind the counter seemed inexperienced. The only items that were okay were the kothu parotta and chicken 65. Everything else we ordered—chicken curry, pepper chicken, malli chicken, veechu paratha, chicken dosa, sambhar vada, etc.—was bland and tasteless. Even the Salna had a weird taste, and the 1/2 boil eggs was over fried (basics in a parotta shop).
What made it worse was the wait time. We ordered around 7:10 PM and didn’t get our last dish until almost 9:00 PM, even though we were one of only two tables in the restaurant (the other being a table of five boys) along with a couple of delivery orders. Food came out in random batches every 15-20mims and by the time the Veechu Parottas arrived, everything else was cold.
The basement dining area was also freezing, and we had to keep our jackets on the entire time.
Luckily, we were a happy-go-lucky group and found some humor in the situation, but overall this was very disappointing—especially given the hype and the drive.
Every dish tells a story here — comforting, bold, and unforgettable. A must-visit for anyone who loves true South Indian soul food.
Stopped by Madurai Café on a drizzly day, and the food could not have hit better. The spice level was just right to warm you up, and every dish carried that unmistakable Madurai-style punch of flavor.
The keema dosa was crisp and flavorful, and the veg kothu parotta was hearty—though I’d skip the cauliflower next time, the overall taste still delivered. Exactly the kind of meal that makes rainy weather feel cozy.
A great spot when you’re craving something spicy, comforting, and full of South Indian character.
– Chichen 65 was tasteless, half raw inside still dripping water, not fried with curry leaves! (I went there in the first place for this dish!) Total culinary failure.
-mutton curry, this was green, totally tasteless and gooey. They should stop selling this.
– sambar, Rasam were cold and looked like powder mixed in cold water.
-mutton fry was somewhat ok, but portion size was for Lilliputs.
– vada was nothing like vada, was mixed with some fresh flour, not fermented, hard and green inside.
– only thing worth our long drive was the parotta!
– We went there few days earlier, on a Monday, but they were closed without notice!
– it is a cold place, we had to wear our jackets.
– some college professors showed up who did not know what to eat, there was no help to them from your staff!
– you need a good chef, customer focused training, and fresh ingredients.
– proper directions for parking will also help.
