Let’s start with the staff, the waiter was top notch, he was very busy getting ready for a big event, but despite of that he was courteous and respectful. They were out of some dishes but he offered alternatives and helped us to have the best experience.
We tried the vegetarian menu, and you will not miss the animal protein. The flavors of the food was outstanding, a bit spicy please ask how spicy the food is before ordering. I am not allergic to anything but let them know about any allergy, the dishes have peanuts and cashews.
Really easy to park right in front of the restaurant.
Don’t miss this place, you won’t regret it.
Staff very attentive. Would love to go back there again.
Went back yesterday, now under a new management.. If you are looking for a real Hyderabadi home cooked meal, look no further. We had chicken biryani and chicken tikka.. The lady who cooked this really puts her heart and soul into it, as cooking is her passion!!( that’s great for us)
They have redecorated this place, looks pleasing and inviting. Service is excellent and the portions are very generous. I’m definitely coming back!
Plenty of seating. Bathrooms and other areas of the cafe looks little run down.
Service was little slow.
Can’t wait to try South Indian food items from the menu next!
Nestled in Sunrise, Madras Cafe offers an authentic taste of South Indian cuisine in a clean and inviting atmosphere. Although it started off quiet, the restaurant quickly filled up, a testament to its growing popularity, despite being newly opened I guess.
**About the Dining Experience:**
Our culinary journey began with the vada sambar, a traditional South Indian dish featuring savory lentil donuts served. While the sambar was exceptional and the chutney delightful, the vada batter had a slightly sour taste, detracting slightly from an otherwise stellar dish.
Next, we indulged in the Bangalore kara dosa with masala filling. This dosa exceeded expectations, impressing us with its bold flavors and expertly balanced spice levels. We enjoyed it so much that we ordered it twice, appreciating both the crispy texture and the fiery kick of the spices.
**Summary:**
Overall, Madras Cafe delivers a memorable dining experience, offering a taste of authentic South Indian cuisine in a welcoming environment. Despite a minor hiccup with the vada batter, the Bangalore kara dosa stole the show, earning it a place as one of the best dosas in Fort Lauderdale. With its growing popularity and delectable dishes, Madras Cafe is a must-visit for South Indian food enthusiasts, deserving of a solid four-star rating.
Don’t go over ambience food is really good.
The Bangalore Masala Dosa was a showstopper! The dosa was perfectly crispy, and the potato filling was perfectly spicy. It’s a must-try for dosa enthusiasts.
Equally impressive was the Gobi Manchurian. The crispy cauliflower florets were coated in a flavorful Indo Chinese sauce that struck the perfect balance between sweet and spicy.
FYI: Water in served in 500ml water bottles that is added to your bill.
Madras Cafe has certainly earned its place as one of my favorite spots for authentic South Indian cuisine in the area. Highly recommended! ️
On previous occasions I tried items such as the veggie pancake, which was loaded with oil and basically flavorless, and the cashew dish which was very overpowering, despite the fact that I like strong flavors(it was like eating peanut butter).
There are much better options in the area, such as in Fort Lauderdale, which have better quality food which is tastier and with much bigger portions for much lower prices.
Instead of giving a discount for paying with cash, they raised the prices for each item to about $1-2 higher than what’s on the menu if you’re paying with a card – that’s definitely not the way to do business.
The two tiny, untouched plates you see below (one almost all sauce and even smaller than it seems)) cost around $39 with just an 18% tip ($33 before) – outrageous!!!!!
They take care in preparing the food. The Dosa and Vada was great and the sambar was like home cooking. The fried food quality is outstanding. Very reasonably priced. Lots of parking. Calming ambiance. I will go back again.
Ordered the rava dosa which was super
crispy and flavorful with a side of delicious masala aloo and sambar. The server was very kind and made sure we were happy with the food! Also offered us complimentary masala chai which was also super good!
