Good place to relax and wait for our french student. Its cosy with a piano and confy chairs. The food is average. Hit and miss. Coffee is good for affordable price. You have discounts for being a member. Service is very good delivered to your table. Its a plesand place to wait and relax. Reccomended.

A gorgeous café with a calm atmosphere hidden away in the heart of the city. A perfect spot to catch up with friends or to get some solo study done. Really friendly and competent staff, gorgeous coffee/hot chocolate and authentic French pastries! My favourite café in Dublin!!

I came here specifically for the madeleines I saw in the photos online, but they were nowhere to be found. Instead, we had to settle for some croissants that looked much sadder and more deflated than the ones advertised on Google.
What’s even more disappointing is the lack of cleanliness. The place was almost empty, yet it was a struggle to find a single clean table. It’s frustrating to see the staff chatting and relaxing when most of the available seating is covered in crumbs and coffee stains from previous customers.
A bit more attention to the tables and a menu that actually matches the photos would go a long way. As it stands, it’s not worth the stop.

A nice space. I wanted to support the new café at Alliance Française but was very disappointed with the food.

There isn’t much choice on the menu to begin with, so I got the only vegetarian sandwich. It arrived overcooked, shrivelled up, dry, unappetising and well overpriced.

Was nice to greet the front desk person at the entrance and then see how patiently the barista listened to my broken French saying I don’t speak nor understand the language. Was happy to be told it’s ok to order in English, which I did and can I say? Wow. €3.5 for a small decaf oat latte? That’s insane! Don’t know if it was a discount or the real price, but that was a great surprise.

Good service and coffee. limited options for pastry which looks home made and really good. Plenty space to seat but can get loud I guess between the classes (It’s inside the French institute)

Waste of time and money…all the hype for a plain place that doesn’t even bake in premises.
Butter croissant, was stale – old ( not flake and shine ) cold as it was just pulled out of the fridge, Madeline over priced for its size & also old.
Flat White- was a cappuccino.

Took a bite of each and left behind.

In the way, mentioned to the front desk and no apologies but for the reply ” went to pick them up this morning, they are fresh” lol..maybe was yesterday fresh but definitely NOT today’s.

Freaking joke!

Tucked amidst the bustle, Madeleine feels like a quiet refuge. It’s small and calm, a café that invites you to slow down rather than rush. Walking in, you’re greeted by the scent of fresh pastries and the soft hum of conversation — nothing overwhelming, just pleasant.

The quality is noticeable. The pastries are fresh, flaky where they should be, with good balance of sweetness and craft. The coffee holds its own, too — more than just a reliable pick-me-up. Everything feels intentional: the little touches in presentation, the care in plating, the way things are kept tidy.

What makes it special is the contrast with its surroundings. In a busy area, it’s nice to find somewhere that isn’t loud or flashy, but still full of life. It’s perfect for a solo moment with a book, a relaxed catch-up with a friend, or just to take a breather and enjoy something good.

In short: Madeleine is a quiet gem with solid offerings, a welcome pause in the midst of city energy.

Small café in the centre with excellent pastries and good coffee. A plain croissant costs 3 euros – not too expensive for Dublin – and tastes just like in France!
You can even order in French if you’d like!
