Interior design was beautiful, warm and intimate. Staff was friendly, efficient and helpful. I had a yuzu martini and the calamansi butterfish w/brussel sprouts The martini was great. I wish the butterfish tasted more/had any hint of calamansi in the dish, as I was looking forward to it. My friend told me her fried chicken was yummy.

Dinner at Ma-dé was such a delight! I truly didn’t know what to expect here, but I was so pleasantly surprised with everything I had. Upon arrival, the interior is beautifully decorated and has a whimsical feeling.

The padang dinner was exceptional with so many different dishes and flavors to try! The side dishes are a bit more vegetarian forward but I thoroughly enjoyed them. For choosing the main proteins, we did the lamb ribs and butterfish. Both were exquisite and so wonderfully tender. You won’t leave hungry here! I will happily recommend this place for others to try and can’t wait to return myself.

This is my third time here and oh my god everything just gets better. Tried their original menu (dumplings are a MUST) but LOOOVED their new Padang-style concept. Tried their Liwetan Feast during Restaurant Week in January & LOVED that too. As an Indonesian, Ma•dé really SERVED all the dishes. Elevated, but surely a fantastic introduction to Indonesian cuisine. And don’t get me started on their desserts. Although the cookies remind me of the ones I had back home as a child, the pandan crepes (dadar gulung) and passionfruit sorbet stole the show. Will definitely be back to try their spring & brunch menu!!! Heard VERY GOOD things on their lamb ribs

I really really want to like this place, but the execution isn’t fully there. There were great elements but I thought the seafood wasn’t super fresh for the price, and some of the dishes were a bit bland. The hot menu items were actually the best part, and the presentation was beautiful. Loved the cocktails. This is still a newer restaurant so I hope they can get better!

“We heard there’s a birthday at this table”, brought out an ice cream with a candle we didn’t order, and proceeded to charge us for the ice cream.

We assumed it was complimentary, as it is at every restaurant I’ve been to here in New York. It was only $4, but the principle was disappointing. Other than that, a wrong order was brought to us and taken back after we already touched it, a side dish order couldn’t be fulfilled as it was only in the pre fixed menu.. These are minor issues that if done otherwise could’ve made our experience so much better.

Overall the food was 3/5, does not remind me of Indonesia, and service was 0/5, with very little Asian representation. Lobster dumplings (the most hyped dish) was below mediocre with extremely flat flavor.

Fine for a regular meal as it was relatively affordable, but wouldn’t count on it for special occasion. And to anyone running a restaurant- come here and learn what hospitality should NOT be.

Edit: also what’s up with all the recent 5 star reviews that look like they are written by bots!!?

Incredible! We had the chefs tasting course experience and it was sooo good! The lamb ribs and fluke was the best! Also the eggplant and squash! The server Bojan was so genuine and kind! Also the decorations in the restaurant were stunning. I really appreciated the candles and flowers everywhere.

Delicious and fun experience. They are small plates mostly seafood and plant based. They recommend 9-11 dishes for 3 people and it was the perfect amount.

They are very accommodating about food allergies.

All dishes were delicious but don’t miss out on the artichokes, scallops and mussels.

Great for a night out or a super cute bar to split a plate or two for happy hour.

While the food was excellent, the service was not up to the standard of the food or the price point. After each course, despite distinct flavors and sauces, we needed to ask for fresh plates and utensils. At a dinner, that’s understandable. At a high end restaurant, the plates and utensils should be replaced after each course without asking. Additionally, despite ordering a large amount of alcohol – two glasses of wine, two glasses of sake (which were laughably small for $16 – literally two sips), a bottle of sake, and a cocktail, we were called out for not tipping 20 percent on the entire bill, including tax. The service was subpar, given the price point, and we selected all of our own alcohol. We also had to repeatedly ask for drinks, after being without drinks for some time. Don’t call out customers for tipping fairly given poor service. And, don’t expect customers to tip 20% on a large amount of alcohol. Do better! Note: I’ve been going to Jean Georges restaurants since I was a kid. I know fine dining and service. This was a service disappointed all around.

In general, food presentation are great, most items including drinks are kinda blend tbh, the raw items are okay not great… and the price is too expensive for the food portion and taste wise. I will only come back for the French toast. Its a must-try (weekend brunch only) One of the best French toast in the city 🙂 the decoration and atmosphere deserved a 5 stars.
