Finally had the chance to make it to Mad Dogs in Macungie. I’ve been wanting to go there for a long time and I’m sad to say I won’t be going back. As you can see from the picture, nothing looks that great. The toppings did not add anything special, and the bun was a basic grocery store bun that leaves much to be desired. You can even see the avocado looks rotten and they still served it.

Great little place. Friendly people. Nice location. Good food and shakes. It is a bit expensive. $14.79 for 1 hotdogs and a shake. I don’t mind tho because it’s a little family owned business. But I couldn’t afford to take my entire family for dinner…..my kids would want 2 hot dogs each plus fries or Pierogies and a shake. It would easily cost me at least $70. So I will sneak off without them and enjoy a afternoon snack on occasion.

We had 3 different hot dog options. Good selection of pre-selected toppings. Look forward to trying some of the others and/or creating our own. Nice place. Seemed like a local favorite too. Parking behind is tight, but plenty of spots next to the park. Inside seating as well as outside.

An amazing, young family has taken ownership and turned this place into a warm, inviting, and wholesome Hot Dog Heaven that now serves as the hub and local socializing spot of this picturesque little town. What Mel’s Diner was to Happy Days, what The Peach Pit was to 90210, and what Central Perk was to Friends, Mad Dog’s Hot Dogs is to Macungie. Thank you so much to Super Mom, Super Dad and their Super Kids for all the labor and love they continuously pour into this charming eatery that will take you away from the screens and static of 2023 and make you feel like you’re in a gentler, tastier world, the likes of which Norman Rockwell was wont to depict in his classic tableaux. The American spirit—in all its sanguine industriousness—permeates this delightful eatery and ice cream parlor. Check it out!
