Soccer-loving English pub with notable beer selections, trivia nights & sports-viewing parties.

Food was excellent. The vibe was excellent. We got the deep fried pickles and the chicken club. Both were amazing. The deep-fried pickles were like whole slices and wedges of pickles that were fried very yummy. We also ordered the chicken club, which had bacon on it avocado all kinds of good stuff very juicy cook chicken was cooked just right.

The place to go if you are a local or a visitor who loves sports watching at the bar. We joined the Barça fans for.one of the matches and the mood was great, friendly, fun and welcoming. The menu offers some basic classics, like fish and chips, nothing super fancy but fair quality. Good selection of international beers and drinks. Staff were professional and caring.

We stopped in for lunch before heading to Golden Gate Park. There was plenty of seating in the main bar area, as well as a back room with more seating.
I got the Mad Dog Burger with bacon with a side salad. It was your basic bar food burger with nothing to write home about. My friend got the Buffalo Wings and they were really good. It came with 10 decent sized wings that were perfectly sauced.
This is a good spot if you’re looking for a quick bite and a brew. They also have the games on at the bar.

Mad Dog in the Fog is an outstanding Irish bar and, without exaggeration, my favorite place to go. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is warm, lively, and unmistakably authentic – the kind of place where you instantly feel comfortable.
The food is excellent, especially the wood-fired pizza, which is packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. Everything on the menu feels well thought out and consistently satisfying. On top of that, there’s a great selection of beer and alcohol, making it easy to find something you’ll enjoy no matter your taste.
What truly sets this place apart is the staff – always friendly, welcoming, and genuinely happy to see you. That combination of great food, quality drinks, and an incredible atmosphere makes Mad Dog in the Fog a place I keep coming back to. If you’re looking for a true Irish pub experience in San Francisco, this spot is a must.

A bit loud for some intimate conversation. The food is good. The fish and chips is actually a whole side of a fish. Its delicious. The Philly Cheese Steak is very good. The selection of beers and libations is also quite great.

A fun place to hang out with friends with good music, delicious food, and reasonably priced food. This place also has good open window seating for people watching on Haight Street. The Bammer and Mash was delicious. Both my best friend and I tried it and have both been to London and we said the food here is even better. The corn digs were small but bulky and super filling. I would recommend them, also.

Mad Dog in the Fog isn’t wildly Irish beyond a few flags, but it’s a cracking spot for daytime drinking and watching sport. Bit rough round the edges, but all the better for it—pool, basketball hoops, and even a piano if you fancy a quick tinkle after a pint. Prices are solid, the crowd’s chilled, and the vibe’s unpretentious fun. Don’t expect glamour—do expect good craic and outrageously tasty loaded nacho fries. Great for a low-key afternoon with mates.

Haight Ashbury’s BEST hidden gem bar. The menu is surprisingly good too. Ample of seating and pool tables at the far end. Used to be a favourite lower haight spot. Great for a DAYTIME or evening hangout during / after the Haight Ashbury stroll. On the menu – the tortilla chicken soup was outstanding, service is great and bartender JAMES makes it a point to remember you even if it gets busy – that’s the kind of place you wanna go back to. Mad Dog’s the type of place that blends an afternoon well into the evening whilst hanging out with friends on a SAT/SUN or any game night. A MUST visit Height Ashbury experience. 5 STARS

I came here today with friends visiting from out of state, and we had planned our entire day around stopping at this bar. Unfortunately, the experience was incredibly disappointing.
When we arrived, the bartender repeatedly skipped over us while serving people who came in after we did. When he finally approached, he refused to serve my friend because he claimed his out-of-state ID was fake—without scanning it, checking it properly, or even asking for a second opinion from another staff member. His ID is 100% legitimate, and he uses it regularly when traveling. He even used it to fly in to visit us the day previously.
The dismissiveness and lack of professionalism completely killed the vibe of what should have been a fun outing. We ended up leaving and taking our business elsewhere.
There are plenty of bars in the area that treat customers with basic respect—unfortunately, this is not one of them. Not coming back.
