We stumbled upon Mad Dog Cafe at Woodfords Place and what a lucky find! This spot is absolutely charming, with friendly staff, cozy vibes, and a dose of good old-fashioned hospitality.
I had a toasted bagel with cream cheese and Erik ordered a hearty breakfast burrito. We grabbed a couple of coffees to go and were impressed with the quality and value.
After breakfast, I explored the adjacent shop and picked up a few fun gifts for family—pickled quail eggs, bacon queso, and Saritta Teriyaki Sauce, all from the Stonehill label. They carry a great selection of items, and the prices were more affordable than I’ve seen elsewhere.
This little stop has more than just breakfast—it offers beer, soda, ice cream, sandwiches, and snacks to fuel your adventure. There’s even a small art gallery tucked inside, adding to the charm and local flavor.
Whether you’re passing through or looking for a Plan B like we were, Mad Dog Cafe is a gem worth pulling over for.

Charming little cafe with good indoor and outdoor seating, knick knacks, an ATM, and a little free library. The staff were friendly, but with a large party, the food took about 45 minutes and they missed my order.

Super friendly staff that create super yummy sandwiches. Their baked goods are made on site and soooo good. Reasonably priced and well worth a stop.

The Mad Dog Cafe makes excellent sandwiches and more, and I thoroughly enjoyed The Avalanche. The few bites I had of The Wall were quite tasty – so much so that I almost wish that I had gotten that sandwich instead (next time). Very comfortable atmosphere, and the staff are quite friendly, very helpful, and skilled.

A recent review said it perfectly: “gourmet food served with a smile.” My first stop here was spontaneous, and my second was very much by design! Service was incredibly friendly and quite quick for how busy they were. The sandwiches I tried were delicious and well-made as was the coffee. Cute little retail element as well if you’re interested in that kind of thing. Overall, well worth dropping in if you’re passing by.

Very friendly and the food was the best I had in 50 miles . I went fishing in markleeville and after a long day of catching fish the food hit the spot but the ice cream was to die for. Everyone should treat themselves to great food and great service.

Yeah, definitely a good spot to stop if your hungry and want good sandwiches. Good for families. The treats are also great. They have ice cream, candy snacks, drinks and more. This is definitely not a fast food joint. This is nice place to take a break from driving around and checking out the area. I would highly recommend checking them out. Also affordable and not over priced.
