A Couple Drinks
We finally decided to give Mac’s a shot, but it wasn’t a great experience.
The drinks came out really fast (in 30 seconds). We had a Penicillin and an Old Fashioned. The Penicillin was made with bourbon instead of scotch and that threw us off, and the Old Fashioned was just okay.
We started with the chicken wings, they were alright but definitely could’ve been crispier.
For mains, we ordered Fish & Chips, which wasn’t crispy like you’d expect, and the Reuben, that was pretty much all sauerkraut (the ratio was way off, and that made it hard to enjoy)
Unfortunately, we won’t be going back.

Got a pint, pretzel bites, and fish and chips.
Environment is cozy with plaid wallpaper under wood molding and copper accents. TVs quietly playing sports, long bar running the length of the place, wall lined with booths. Handsome.
Service quick, friendly, efficient.
Pretzel bites were good, a typical profile and properly cooked.
At under $20, the fish and chips is a great value. They were cooked well and had a crispy batter. Fries are great – I never had fries cut like that. They give a crispy but chewy texture.
For improvements, I recommend the fish & chips come with a lemon wedge, and making a tartar sauce that has garlic and/or dill added, possibly not sweet relish. Tartar sauce was really sweet and didn’t have a lot of flavor, so throwing some garlic or dill in there can add some simple character. I also always recommend places offer a spicy tartar option as they have an “improper” burger so adding more “improper” options to the menu.
Other photo is the reuben which I did not eat. All in all, this is a great short north pub I recommend. I’ll be back.

I was in town for work and had hoped to find a place to watch a Premier League game. Came across Mac’s and was welcomed in, whilst quiet the staff even let me pick the TV that I wanted to watch the game on. Ordered Mac’s Triple Decker Club and it was every bit as delicious and hearty as the picture shows. Great atmosphere, great service and great food.

Great option for dinner before going to a painting class next door. Server was helpful in navigating the menu. They allowed subsitutions like fries instead of mashed potatoes. My only suggestion for would be to note gluten free or gluten friendly items on the menu. Our group enjoyed sitting at the front open window. Overall great experience and I’d definitely go back!

Marissa was so amazing! Great bartender. Great standard bar. Yummy late night food open until 1am (at least on Saturdays).

This place is an unsung legend for spice lovers. Went to “knockback nats” for wings all the way from dayton and they wouldn’t even let us in the door to order to go wings because we had a 12 year old with us. We went here and had great service. The no refund wings are HOT. They should make a challenge. Ive had all the wings in the area and this place is the second hottest but the first place, clancys tavern in dayton has since shut down. Do a challenege yall!

I’ve have been coming to Mac’s since 2015. So before and After the rebrand. Today experience was hands down the best. The food was terrific today. I ordered the Shrimp and chips basket with the white cheddar Mac and cheese. Everything was piping hot and fresh. You get 8 jumbo shrimp full order of fries and a cup of Mac&Cheese. The fries and shrimp was crisp enough for me. I know some ppl say it wasn’t enough for them but I don’t overly like food extra crispy like if your bitting hard brittle candy. The Mac&Cheese is creamy enough. Definitely not like my mom’s but very impressive for a pub style. And my Waitress Erin was helpful polite and a good server. Took my order in a timely fashion and served all of my needs while I was there. I gave the atmosphere 2 star tonight because it was Sunday at 7pm when I was there and when I sat down there was only 3 ppl in the restaurant. So it was there slow period. But this place has a great atmosphere during peak hours for the 10 years I’ve have come. So in final Mac’s is a great place the food is excellent 90% of the time (only a couple of time I’ve come I have been 100% satisfied) and one of the best pub spot in central Columbus.

Delicious food that was served in a prompt amount of time. Large beer selection consisting of domestic and craft, both bottle and draft. Lots of table seating and a long bar. Parking is limited street or using a garage that is a block or two away. Everything tasted fresh.

Jenna served us and she is an ABSOLUTE gem of a person. Instantly felt joy with her presence. She also was well versed in the menu for my mother as she is a vegetarian. The atmosphere is like going to your favorite neighborhood pub. Food was SO good there wasn’t an ounce of it left when I finished. Hope to be back again!

I will update this review when I go back for a “proper” meal. But let me just say that the experience here was great. They had a great staff rhat was very attentive, awesome atmosphere with huge open windows so we could pet the dogs walking by, and the loaded tots were outstanding. I LOVE that they use a melty nacho cheese on the tots and a generous amount of real bacon.
