July 2025 update
Service was quick and efficient and our meals were great.

We stopped with a large group and the wait was long, which we didn’t mind, but the server and greeter evidently minded. They were not very friendly and almost mad when we said we could break our table up when being seated, if it was tight. While I liked the efficiency of being able to pay at the table through the server, I did not think it was appropriate for the server to ask the two different checks in our group what tip we wanted to add. It was awkward. We had lunch and the food was decent. From looking at other pics, this is a great place for breakfast. We will most likely return and give it another go for breakfast.

Coffee is hot and cup is never empty. Great food and service. Never disappointed.

Stopped for a late breakfast. Staff was a bit scattered. We were seated with menus and ordered beverages. 2 tables after we came, orders were taken.
We were patient, its a small town resturaunt. But I ordered an omelet with swiss…hubby too. His had swiss, mine did not, and was under cooked with American cheese on top. The cheese pulled off in one piece like rubber. Not the best omelets. Im not fussy, just would like my food prepared right. Staff was friendly but not very attentive to details.
And I wont send anything back to the kitchen, or openly complain. Not horrible. Just not the best.
We’ll just go elsewhere when in the area.

Went for breakfast. Had the “Belt Buster” it was very good. Eggs over medium were perfectly done. A pile of bacon also cooked just right…. firm enough to pickup without being too done and crunchy. Wife had a “Birds Nest” (a scramble) and she didn’t even finish half of it.

We have eaten at Macks many, many times since moving to Gladwin. They have a great cook, wonderful waitresses and the decor and ambience is perfect. We stopped eating there because the food is always just warm, not hot. We asked and asked if the cook could warm the plates before putting the food on it. We finally gave up and stopped going there. We miss the good food and people, though.

We found this “greasy spoon gem” in Gladwin after a spa weekend. The staff were friendly, the food was tasty and filling – plus it came out quick.

There coffee was good and they had unique cups and abundant refills. I think every server in the restaurant came by at some point to offer refills; you could tell it’s a a good team.

The hash browns on anything were a favorite but the strawberry jam on sourdough was a showstopper! Definitely don’t skip on the toast.

Great value for the price. Actually, price was cheap for the taste and quantity of food. Looked like every meal came out with homemade strawberry jam. Definitely home made, not out of a factory sugar jar. My sandwich was so big I used the top piece for bread to go with the jam.

Pictured is the farmers omelet with two eggs and feta. The food was spectacular. And their in house made strawberry jam is a showstopper. The diner is very popular and busy, with the relatively small space that means long waits sometimes. Not a great place for large party’s to eat. Most of the staff are friendly and the prices are fair. I wasn’t a fan of the birds nest breakfast because there was what looked like a Kraft single on top. I much prefer real cheese but that’s a personal preference. I think the 50cent charge for feta is fair as they give you a good portion. All their food portions are large so no worries about going home hungry. Last thing I would like to mention is you can buy their strawberry jam and they often have desserts in a case to purchase, often cupcakes, and they serve a delicious grilled cinnamon role.
