At first, Mackinaws Grill & Spirits was just a restaurant & bar idea we talked about whenever we stayed in log cabins during our annual family ski trips to the Colorado Rockies. That conversation became a reality in 2002 when we made the decision to harvest the mighty Norway Spruce Pines planted by my father and grandfather on Green Bay’s West Side. In fact, every part of the restaurant has ties to family and community. We are proud to offer a menu featuring comfort food, craft beer, select bourbon, and high-end spirits in a casual, rustic, welcoming environment. A favorite stop for years on our way to DC.
Fast, friendly, professional service in a warm, rustic environment.
Walleye and Lake Perch are always outstanding. Try the chili and nachos too! Have never had a bad meal or experience.
Reese was very attentive and courteous.
Only negative was today they turned off the fireplace because another patron whined about it being too warm. Gee… take off your hat, over shirt, or move to the other end of the table.

01/03/26 – First, we received stellar service from Jill. She was nice, knowledgeable on the food and bar menus, and quick. For the appetizer, we had the excellent artihoke dip, I really loved the Pita bread with it. Main course was a perfectly prepared medium rare 10oz tenderloin. I could cut it with a fork and it was succulent. The capper is the great bourbon selection. Some very eclectic choices! We will definitely be back.

Salad was great, fries were great and ribs were great. They have cinnamon butter for the rolls. Delicious. You do taste the cinnamon. The butter is not saturated with cinnamon.

I’ve always enjoyed coming here for burgers, and the service is consistently great. This was my first time trying the Friday fish fry, and unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed with the meal. Both the perch and the salmon were overcooked—the salmon was rubbery, and the perch was dry. The mixed vegetables were also overcooked and soggy and mushy; I would have preferred them, and I think most people would prefer a bit more al dente. Almost like they were cooked more than once or freezer burnt. On a positive note, the loaded mashed potatoes were very flavorful. Overall, I’m not sure I’d come back for the Wisconsin Friday fish fry, but I’ll happily stick with the burgers.

Stopped in after watching the UW Madison Marching Band fir dinner. Clara was an amazing server, very engauging and always a brillant smile. She was very accommodating with one of our orders (very well done porterhouse) she ensured the kitchen knew that therecwas no juice. All the food came out quickly and perfectly seasoned. Dessert was great, Peanut Butter Chocolate Pie was to die for. Thank You for a great experience.

Have been here in the past, but recently went here with the entire family to celebrate my and a couple others birthdays. The food was very good, but was even more impressed by our waitress. She was so organized by taking our orders with a clipboard, was able to separate our bills properly, and was so accommodating to our requests. Will certainly be back to enjoy the bar and food next time

Love the decor. The waitress was nice and frequently checked on us. The Caesar salad was AMAZING. The rest of the food was lacking in seasoning and flavor. I ordered the tenderloin mid-rare. It was cooked correctly, but no seasoning – not even salt and pepper, simply just char-broiled. My partner had the chicken parm. He said the sauce was very bland and the bread stick was from frozen.

We made reservations for four on Saturday at 5:30pm. We arrived early, had a drink at the bar and were seated on time. The waitress took our orders. When the food arrived about 20 minutes later, she brought the food for three of us and apologized when she realized she had not brought the fourth and said she would be right back. When she returned about five minutes later, she said that the kitchen was finishing up the sides and she would be bringing the fourth dinner shortly. Two of us complained to her that our prime rib and potatoes were only slightly warm and asked to get the dinner we ordered hot. She took our plates and returned about five minutes later with the same plates of food that were obviously just warmed up in the microwave (which changed my medium-rare prime rib to a medium) and she had still not come with the fourth person’s meal. By the time that she returned with the fourth person’s meal (that was still missing one of the side dishes), the rest of us had finished eating. She offered to buy the fourth person a drink for the mix up, but we requested that the fourth person’s meal be comped. She said that only the manager could do that so we asked to speak to the manager. When the manager arrived at our table, they had apparently been told of the issue and said that they would not charge for the fourth person’s meal.
This was supposed to be a celebratory dinner with close friends that instead was made to be a bit of a mess due to one or more people’s incompetence.
I would have happily paid twice as much as we did if everything had gone off without a problem but after this experience, I will not be returning.
There are too many other great restaurants in Green Bay for me to enjoy and almost assuredly not have the problems that I experienced here.

The restaurant was near my hotel which was very convenient. The service was extremely nice, and regular check-ins.
The food was very good and large portions. The appetizer was great and again good portions for everyone.
The atmosphere is unique, and the setting is definitely one to take pictures of. There are TVs for entertainment or catching a game. There is a fire pit outside for when the weather is chilling and you want to chill outside.
I highly recommend this location when you are in town or looking for somewhere to eat.
