We were looking for a new Italian restaurant and stumbled on Macello’s. They have a pizza so this will be #151 of my search for the best pizza. Macello has a wood-fired pie with some of the best ingredients I have found for pizza anywhere. From the fresh sauce (they should bottle their pizza sauce), to the sausage, to the mozzerella, to the olive oil, and some of the best burrata I’ve ever had was truly remarkable. The dough needed work though. Crispy with no chew and all flop fell flat (check out the pillowy crust from piccolo buco and great crust from Robert’s). But the ingredients make this a highly recommended pizza for me. My wife said her lamb chops were very good. The cavatelli al forno was OK, oversauced and small but OK.

Years ago we went to Puglia and when we heard about this restaurant we had to go, and it did not disappoint. The food was great, friendly staff and the ambiance was relaxing. Will definitely come back, especially during the summer when their patio is open.

If you haven’t been to Macello yet, you’re seriously missing out. This little hidden gem is SO good. The restaurant itself is so warm and inviting inside, and they also have a nice patio if you’re into that, too. We went a little before dinner time and got seated right away, but you can make a reservation too just to be safe!

The service was awesome—everyone was really friendly, and our server gave us a few great recommendations that really helped since it was so hard to choose—because it all sounded so good!

We ordered ‘family style’ so we could share. We got two pastas, a salad, pizza, and the bread, of course. It was the perfect amount of food for the four of us! We split a bottle of wine too, which just made the whole meal feel extra nice. A few of us had cocktails and they were all amazing.

Highly recommend checking this place out. I honestly don’t think you’ll regret it!

Very authentic food from the Puglia region of Italy. The wine, the food and the service made for a very pleasant visit to this close to the United Center restaurant.

My partner and I recently visited Macello for the first time, and it was such a wonderful experience! The staff was friendly and attentive. With so many delicious options, I had trouble deciding, but when I asked our waiter for suggestions, he was so passionate and walked me through his favorite dishes and how each is prepared, which made it so much easier to choose.

We decided to try a little bit of everything and ordered lamb shank with risotto, the pizza margherita, and Orecchiette Braciole. Everything was fresh and simply delicious! My partner had a craft cocktail that was fantastic, and I enjoyed a glass of red wine. The leftovers made for an amazing lunch the next day.

We’ll definitely be back to try more of the menu!

In from out of town and brought in by some local business associates and man, am I glad they did. Excellent little spot. Wonderful octopus and squid grilled appetizer, then had the Braciole with Orecchiette pasta which was delicious. I home make Braciole so my standards are pretty high; this was tender and delicious. Check it out. You will not be disappointed.

Went recently for restaurant week and their menu options were amazing. Food was delicious and freshly prepared. Our sever also recommended a wine pairing for the group since we didn’t know much about wine. If you would like authentic italian with good service and a beautiful restaurant this is definitely a place to check out.

I took my partner for her birthday at Macello. Not only was the food amazing, but the service was amazing as well. Jennifer was amazing the whole night and helped us pick out some amazing dishes. I would highly recommend if you are looking for a taste of Italy in the west loop! You could tell everything was made fresh in house! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
