Reviews
The owners are amazingly accommodating, kind and generous. They set us up with Ayden, who coordinated and managed our event. They went above and beyond to make our vision come to life and then some!
I highly, highly, highly recommend stopping by for the delicious, elevated pub fare, incredible beer and drink menus and warm/friendly atmosphere, but would also suggest holding your event here. It was perfect!
The manager was kind enough to comp our drinks, after we were charged for a margarita we never received so, that was cool.
Anyway, the food was great.
Atmosphere was depressing no sexy barmaid or friendly bartender just a couple just there guys in sweats. My mate ate an order of $15 fries and $12 French onion soup. That’s correct $15 for French Fries – even at Governor Newsome’s favorite restaurant – 5 star French Laundry – fries are $13 and there they come with fancy ketchup truffle salt and Dijon dipping sauce sauce, at Mcduffs you get 10oz of fries that’s it. Disgusting price to charge- no excuse for it it’s just greed. My mate said food sucked and I asked a couple how their food was they said ok ! But $157 with tax and tip for 2 beers each 2 Shepard pies and a shared salad at a pub – well that’s just robbery. Beer is cold as is the atmosphere My suggestion is go somewhere else. A pint of beer is between $9 to $13 need we say more. They were friendly to us lgbtq queens so they are gay and lesbian friendly like most restaurants in Tahoe. Overall not impressed and won’t recommend or go back. The $15 side of fries is memorable
So the cottage and shepards pie they enjoyed thoroughly, mac n cheese enjoyed, pizza, was enjoyed. However, fish n chips well heres where it went a little off. Fish was good the fries were dreadfully soggy and greasy. They were mealy mushy texture and just gross. Did not eat and just left them.
Then theres the burger….burger was very underwhelming. There was no seasoning on it, it was just bland. Salt and pepper goes a very long way….then the mealy mushy grease sogged down fries…absolutely not good. Left half of burger and all the fries. I had a better burger at 5 guys to be honest. In photos it looks great. Maybe stick to the irish fare and get a better experience?
As for the atmosphere, it was noisy, and we felt we had to speak to one another louder than you’d expect over a dinner table.
I’ve been to allot of restaurants in my travels, I feel there are better experiences to be had elsewhere.
Pros: awesome atmosphere – good music and environment. Well seasoned and cooked fish, they cooked our fish in three different ways. The fries are solid (crispy & properly salted).
Cons: Lots of alcohol options, however not really any options for mocktails which is kinda disappointing for our non alcohol members. Staff was attentive however seemed to forget one member of our party when it came to ordering food and drinks.
Despite this we would return again. Seeing all the positive reviews its very likely our experience is not what the average experience is. I recommend trying this restaurant for yourself and make your own judgements.
