Had an amazing family dinner here tonight with 12 others! Beth was our server and she was absolutely incredible. It was Christmas Eve and busy and we had a bunch of kids running around and they (the servers) were all chill about it and didn’t seem to feel put out or anything.
Beth also went out of her way to get me a custom drink order – so sweet, such yummy food (I always get the tamale bites), and good times and vibes!

If you know Macayo’s then you know the food will be pretty good. Lived within 2 miles of this place and never knew it was tucked away in this complex. You have to look for it, it’s right in front of LaQuinta hotel. Food and service were good as expected but the acoustics were horrible, it was loud and voices just bounced off the walls. Atmosphere was lacking compared to their other locations.
Given those issues, it’s still a Macayo’s with good food and service. When you are on Superstition Blvd and get to Test Drive, turn north and drive back and you will find this place. Not busy for a Saturday night as I think this is hard to find!

Service was outstanding and food was better than pictures in previous reviews. Our server Chad, was the best!! We were visiting from MN and really wanted a good Mexican restaurant experience. We were not disappointed. Well worth it!! Highly recommend.

I came to Macayo’s Mexican Food hungry. I left spiritually altered, mildly bloated, and questioning every life choice that led me to eat anywhere but here before. This place isn’t just good, it’s “sell your soul for another bite” good.
Now let’s talk about the green corn tamales with Baja sauce, sweet baby Jesús riding a lowrider through flavor heaven. These tamales are so good they made me black out for a second. I woke up whispering to a tamale husk like it was a long lost lover. I don’t know what deal Macayo’s made with the food gods, but there’s probably a goat missing somewhere and I’m not mad about it.
The Baja sauce? Smooth, tangy, creamy, basically the El Chapo of sauces: addictive, dangerous, and probably illegal in at least three states.
Service? Fast. Friendly. They looked me in the eye like they knew I wasn’t emotionally ready for what was about to happen to my mouth.
Atmosphere? Perfect mix of family owned comfort and “you might die here and be totally okay with it.”
I will 100 percent be back. Or I’ll haunt the place, whichever comes first.

A great place for great Mexican food. Chips and Margarita’s.
Their Happy Hour makes me very HAPPY! I bring my own ChaCha cup for special margarita prices, and Happy Hour food deals. Yes!!!!
I’d seen ‘Fried Ice Cream’ on menus in many Mexican restaurants, but never tried it. DELICIOUS!
And the BAJA sauce. Order anything that has the Baja sauce on it. You’ll thank me.
The employees are super friendly, and have good memories. lol

We go all of the time to this location, either a small group or up to 10. We love the patio seating as we can bring our dog. We either get Gavin or a female server (forgot her name) but between the both of them we have excellent service. Super quick, always attentive; reason we keep coming back! Thank you!

Sadly, I didn’t have the best experience. The chips were good, Salsa, just so-so, needs a little more garlic and a kick. The Margarita was very good, nice and limey. However, I ordered a ground Beef chimmy and got a shredded Chicken, which instead of being a deep fried flour tortilla with a little sauce and cheese on top, appeared to be a soft flour tortilla, making it kind of tough to cut, soft and mushy.
The Waiter didn’t attend the table enough to get the message of the Dish error, making it too late to fix it. They DID comp the meal, which I appreciate.

Love Macayos for Mexican food. It’s one of the staples anytime I’m in Phoenix. Fried ice cream is great as well.

We came here tonight to celebrate my wife’s birthday. There’s a certain plate she loves, and that is her usual birthday request. As our party of four was walking in, there were two hosts. I was in the back of our group and whispered to the host that it was my wife’s birthday. His response? “Tell your server.” That would not be possible while maintaining the element of surprise. So, I whispered to the next host and he nodded his acknowledgment. The meal was exceptional as always. I was waiting for the server to do their birthday presentation at our table. It never came. As we were walking out, I asked to speak to a manager. I told her what happened, and I thought this was very poor customer service. She asked me if I wanted some ice cream to go. I declined. I then went and spoke to the second host and asked what happened. He told me that he informed our server. The manager was standing there and simply stated that she was sorry and said she would talk to the server and the first host. This was poorly, poorly handled, and we will never be back. There are plenty of other restaurants in town. I have given this exact restaurant great reviews before. I will retract them. I hope the general manager sees this and contact me. I do not want anything for free. I want this staff to be trained in customer service.
Update: one year later, we returned from my wife’s birthday. Our server was great! He anticipated our every need and have great recommendations. Place is very clean and the food was really good.

Buy a fancy margarita glass. Get .79 or .99 refills. I’ve had better Mexican food but senior and happy hour deals are a good value. Staff is super! Nice patio.
