We would definitely recommend this restaurant for special occasions or a date night.
We started with the meatballs as an appetizer. They were huge, moist, and definitely not dry, which was a plus. The bread was fine, though I could take it or leave it since I’m not a big bread person.
For our entrees, I had the chicken with artichokes, mushrooms, and basil, and it was phenomenal. My husband ordered the chicken parmesan with linguine. He said the chicken itself was excellent, but the linguine was crunchy. Not al dente, crunchy.
We let our waitress know, and when she relayed it to the head chef, his response was simply that “this is how we cook our pasta.” There was no effort to come check the dish or even see what we were talking about. My husband didn’t eat any of the pasta because he doesn’t like crunchy noodles, and the response from the kitchen felt dismissive, as if it was basically “too bad.”
This was especially disappointing because we came in with high expectations after friends who have eaten here told us how great their meals were. This was my first time dining here, and unfortunately, it will be my last.
The space is small, tables are close together, and it’s very loud, though the restaurant itself is nice. We came for my wife’s birthday. We asked if the pasta was made in-house and were told it is not — all pasta is purchased, though the meatballs, sausage, and sauce are made in-house. For a restaurant charging premium prices, not making fresh pasta was already disappointing.
We ordered the meatball appetizer (two large meatballs in sauce). They were good, but expensive for what you get.
My wife ordered a chicken and pasta dish. She enjoyed it overall, though the chicken was slightly overcooked, and she couldn’t have the mushrooms removed.
I ordered chicken parm with linguine. The chicken was good, but the pasta was badly undercooked — much of it was still crunchy. I informed the waitress, and she showed it to the owner/chef. I was then told he refused to fix it, saying that’s simply how he cooks it.
At a high-dollar Italian restaurant, serving store-bought pasta that is undercooked — and then refusing to correct it — is unacceptable. I essentially paid for a piece of chicken and was left without a proper meal.
We won’t be returning and will spend our money elsewhere.
