The first Macado’s restaurant was opened in 1978 by Richard Macher in downtown Roanoke, Virginia. It soon became popular for its eclectic ambiance of cartoon, antique, and local nostalgic decor, as well as its wide array of hearty yet modestly-priced sandwiches, subs, and entrees. The food was okay. The totchos came with liquid “cheese”. The selection of sandwiches is extensive but not much there for vegetarians. Our server was inattentive and unapologetic for further delay after messing up our order.

We went there with a large group and the service wasn’t great. They weren’t busy so it shouldn’t have been that hard. They do have a great menu with lots of selections. The o ion rings and the pretzels were good for appetizers. I’m on a low carb diet and they were very accommodating for my special requests. The atmosphere is unique and inviting.

This was a great place to stop and have lunch. We have two girls that needed to get out of the car on our way to Tennessee. They have a nice outside area to eat. My girls where able to play corn hole games and make friends with the other couple that had two girls as well. The food was delicious. The people that work there are genuinely nice. This is the perfect place to stop and catch a breath. Waiting on the food was no big deal. I ordered a burger well done. I know that takes time. The people who say there food did not come fast enough…should shut their mouth and enjoy the scenery for a few while they wait on the yummy food they ordered. Oh…and by the way…there was one fellow that threw his cigarette off the patio into a pile of leaves. I walked around the gazebo and made sure to put it out. Kudos to all the workers there. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone traveling through.

Service was good but the food was not. Had to wait a good while to receive our lunch and it wasn’t hot. Don’t order any burger. It is not fresh and has little taste. The chicken in the “Diablo” was overcooked. Cheese sticks and hot wings were delicious though and that is why I give it 2 stars.

Our waitress “wrote down” our order. Then came back 4x to ask what we ordered over the next 20 minutes. Brings our food out and my order isn’t even the sandwich I ordered and she is long gone. Wait for her to come back and inform her this isn’t what I ordered, she acts offended. At this point I’ve told her at least 3x at this point what I wanted and no tomato. 15 min later when everyone else is almost done eating I finally get the right sandwich, covered in tomato.

My first and last visit! It wasn’t very busy but still had to wait for more than 20 minutes. Once we got our food the burgers were burnt on the bottom the fries were greasy and my egg was over cooked! The waiter was the best thing of the night.

First time trying the food here. I ordered the blue’s burger well done with fries. $10.30 total. And OMG it was one of the best burgers I have ever had! It was perfectly cooked well done, not burnt. They didn’t skimp on the blue cheese or bacon either! also came with lettuce ,tomato, onion and a pickle spear. I will defiantly order from here again!

I’ve been to this location several times before with no issues, but today’s experience was terrible. We were seated immediately, but our server didn’t appear for 10-15 minutes. We placed an order for water and a round of beers…15 minutes (I’m probably being generous) passed and the server tells us they didn’t have the beer we ordered. We chose an alternative and asked for our waters again, which took another 10 minutes to receive. At that point, we decided to leave. No apologies were offered by our server when my husband told her we couldn’t wait any longer.
The restaurant did NOT appear to be busy, but the staff seemed to be bumbling their way through the afternoon.

Small chain restaurant food w local flair. Glorious patio for summer chilling with space for kids to be kids. Good weekly specials for each night. Service is sometimes slow, but the food is generally good. Limited tap selection of beers; due to dry campus, but they are working on more options.
