This was such an impressive experience. The shop is small and simple but clean and the workers are friendly. Service is fast. They assembled my chicken sandwich in about five minutes. I ordered the second heat level which is called hot. Their scale goes from no spice to mild to hot to something very hot and then the R I P level at the very top. I had no idea what to expect but I kept my expectations reasonable since it is a mom and pop shop.

My usual top spicy chicken sandwiches from chains are Jollibee and Chick fil A and I enjoy both. I honestly did not expect this place to beat them but it absolutely did.

The Nashville spiced fries were cooked perfectly with a crisp crunch on the outside and a soft inside. The seasoning was on point with a slight warm kick that did not hurt. It was just really good spice.

I ordered the macaco sandwich which is their house special with slaw and pickles. It was huge. Easily one hundred to two hundred grams heavier than a Chick fil A or Jollibee sandwich. Thick and hefty. The first bite was crunchy and juicy. The slaw was balanced. The sauce brought real heat that you feel all around your mouth but it stayed enjoyable. It was the kind of spicy that lets you take a few bites before needing a drink not the kind that ruins the meal.

The bun was soft probably a brioche and everything came together so well. I will definitely come back. They gave a generous amount of fries and the combo with a medium drink and the large sandwich was twenty dollars which felt fair considering the size and quality. It may be slightly more expensive than big chains but you get more food and you support a local business. Very very good. Five out of five.

Truly worthy of a visit. Juicy chicken, large portions and good sauce for a very reasonable price.

I’m picking this over Dave’s hot chicken any day

They got gigantic chicken sandwiches! So get the antiacid ready for the many variations of spice levels. They are very good definitely impressed with the flavors and sauce! Service was very friendly and helpful when making a decision on spice levels. I got a side of coleslaw and it was very flavorless so I don’t recommend that by itself. I’m sure the fries are pretty good so I will try that next time. The prices are are kinda high but you do get a good amount of food. I would recommend if you have a passion for fried chicken.

The Macaco sandwich is the best chicken sandwich I’ve ever eaten. Large pieces of juicy chicken fried to perfection with your choice of spice level. Fresh, soft bun and tasty cole slaw and pickles. Thoughtfully assembled, which is very rare these days. Garlic fries are also excellent. Come hungry!

For reference….I live in Corralitos (Watsonville). My boyfriend introduced me to this place and now…EVERY time we go to Gilroy or have an errand to run that can be done in Gilroy I…politely…demand to go here for lunch. The Macaco chicken sandwich *chefs kiss*

I’m usually the girl that can handle spice and I’ve gotten their hot….I’m not sure I could handle a spicier level lol. I’m a fan of the two sliders…one got….one mild both with extra pickles.

The quality of chicken 10/10. Seasoning 10/10. The pickles 10/10. The slaw 10/10. Bun 10/10. The service 10/10. The service is always friendly! It’s not “fast food” it’s quality food. The wait has never been long and I have ADHD lol.

For context…my boyfriend is on his way back with some right now for us.

Bottom line we LOVE this place. If there was one in Watsonville….I would be in serious trouble

When you order a sandwich and your sitting outside and theres “no one” inside
I expect my $15 sandwich+ tip I expect a little service. Food okay ,tast chicken , alot of breading for my taste. Macaroni salad tasted like low end supermarket stuff . Not for me

This was one of the best chicken sandwiches I’ve ever had. The heat levels are true to their name. I’m great with spice and “Spicy” definitely was burning my mouth. The sandwich itself is HUGE and well constructed. The chicken was delicious and large whereas every bite had some anywhere you bit into the sandwich. The ranch seasoned fries were crispy and delicious as well. I’ll definitely be coming back.

I had a very disappointing experience here. Shortly after eating, I felt extremely sick — my stomach became bloated and I was vomiting for hours afterward. I won’t be returning.
Cleanliness was also a major issue. Staff handling food had long beards with no beard nets, and the trays did not appear to be properly washed. My tray was sticky and visibly dirty when I received it, which was honestly disgusting. I only ate about half my meal before deciding to leave.
I tried to speak with the owner about my concerns. I was told he would come out, but after waiting over 30 minutes, no one ever came to talk to me.
Overall, between the cleanliness issues, getting sick afterward, and the lack of concern from management, I would not recommend this place. I won’t be eating here again.

Best spicy chicken I’ve ever had.
(Classic style, spice level spicy). FYI if you are sensitive to spice I would choose a lower spice level.

I tried coming here before but didn’t realize they are closed Mondays and I finally just tried it.

It does take a while to get your food, but it’s one of those things where the wait is 100% worth it. You can tell they actually doing them made to order.

The sandwich is pretty darn big! You could probably split one if your not a big eater or not that hungry. I also got the fires Nashville spicy and they were also incredible!

100% hands down recommended this to anyone looking for a great fried chicken sandwich

High quality chicken sandwiches. I had the Macaco with the ‘spicy’ heat level. The sandwich is huge, crispy and juicy. The bun is soft with a nice texture on the outside. The spicy was a nice kick to the flavor. Everything was made fresh to order. If you’re a chicken sandwich aficionado like myself, this is a must try. I will definitely be coming back!
