Food is always fresh and always good. My faves are the Rasta pasta, red beans and rice, oxtail, and jerk chicken. The zaza bowl was really good too.

This is the best eatery in the capital region. Who would guess that a food court eatery can create such delicious food. I give this place 5 stars for taste, aroma and plating. I know that the food is placed in a tin but the placement is pleasing to the eyes.

It’s was different than Jamaican Oxtails, which is to be expected. Overall it wasn’t the best I’ve had is a nice way of saying it.The Oxtail came with cabbage and rice and pea (turns out it’s black eyed peas) Taste too much like Cinnamon , very sweet and no spice. The cabbage taste the same way too much cinnamon and was too sweet. Was very disappointed, over hyped. The Curry Chicken was better just needed salt. Probably wouldn’t try again.

I’ve been here a few times now and it was amazing each time so I decided to leave a review. The Guyananese Chicken, Curried Chicken, and the Oxtail are all phenomenal! The Rice and Peas (Beans) are some of the best and most flavorful I’ve ever had! This is better than the majority of Jamaican Restaurants in the area. These guys are awesome business men and I highly recommend getting something to eat at this wonderful establishment.

I’m not from around and I was not familiar with the mall, but I saw the Guyanese flag and decided to stop over. I was greeted by a friendly gentleman, who told me about the specials. I decided to go with Rasta Pasta & Oxtail. It’s sooooo good!!! Pasta was spicy but not overpowering and the oxtail was a good portion and the meat was tender.

My only suggestion would be to get different containers so that we can throw leftovers in the microwave. However it’s not a complaint I don’t live in this state but when I’m back, I will definitely check it out and recommend to others!

The food is so good! I love the vegan options! I had curry potatoes, rice and beans, and plantains. I also had a mango smoothy which was a whole mango blended with ice.

I should start by saying that I usually do not eat food from mall food courts because I’ve been disappointed in the past. I only got food today because I was shopping and didn’t feel due to not having lunch. I’m happy that I stumbled upon MG Cafe. I ordered rice and peas, Guyanese chicken and cabbage. I also got a chocolate chip cookie because they were fresh out of the oven.
The food had great flavor. I enjoyed the cookie and it was a plus because there was just enough salt sprinkled on top. Also, I feel that the prices are very reasonable. Next time I’m in colonie center I will definitely get food from MG Cafe.
Low-key sad I didn’t see roti on the menu but they are fairly new so hopefully in the future.

Updated review: Visited MG again in late September 2023 and can happily report that the jerk chicken and cabbage are just as delicious as the other items I’ve tried from them. The staff is so friendly and pleasant. I wish the MG Cafe were closer to me, I would visit it every day!

I went on a trip to the mall with my best friend and we have very different tastes when it comes to food. After eyeing up my options, I noticed MG Cafe in the corner with the Guyana flag.

They have a lunch menu that’s about $10 and I believe it’s discounted for mall employees. There are also daily specials, and I was fortunate enough to catch the oxtail. It was about $18 and came with rice & beans and cucumber.

Their oxtail was genuinely some of the best I’ve had in the area. They aren’t quite as spicy as I’m used to, but there’s a good amount of meat on them and they taste home-cooked. Best of all — they’re not greasy like other restaurants sometimes prepare them. The rice and beans were also really good and well-seasoned, too. There was enough food leftover to have seconds later, so I would say it was a good deal. And you grab one of the $10 pick-2 options, you can easily get two meals out of $5.

I wish I’d been able to try more from MG Cafe but was surprised to learn they’ve been at this location for two years! This is definitely a good reason to visit Colonie Center more often. It was one of the highlights of my day and I look forward to visiting again soon!

Now that they are up and running on a daily. I can say the food is good! I’m there at least once a week. Can’t beat the prices and specials! Taste and seasoning valid! Rice and Peas, Cabbage, Jerk and Curry chicken and they got some carribean noodles they serve too! All of what I’ve tried so far from them and will continue. Authentic, yes
