Our meal and experience at M by Alinea was sensational. One of the best meals I have ever had in my life! The service was impeccable; everyone was extremely kind and thoughtful from the time you walk in to the time you leave. The pace of the dinner was perfectly executed. I can’t even explain the dishes we had to other people because the description does not do it justice; the utilization of each local ingredient was so unique. Even the cocktails were exceptional. We are most likely returning because it was just so incredible. You should go for the tasting menu. It is worth the splurge, and you are comfortably full by the end of it. The s’mores and hot chocolate at the end was the perfect punctuation mark to one of the best nights ever! We are so grateful to Chef Achatz and the staff for bringing a piece of Heaven to our backyard. Thank you so much!

To my surprise while I taxi’d in my plane after landing in Bozeman for a two week work/ski trip, I saw the Alinea Group had dropped into the Big Sky resort for a residency and nothing was stoping me from getting a reservation!

Luckily I was solo and booking a seat at the bar was easy peasy over email, I recommend reserving ASAP if you have a group, this place has shot out of a cannon in popularity!

The service was what stood out. Everyone was as friendly as could be and I’ve come to enjoy the amount of fun everyone is having, a vibe I get every time I’m at one of their spots in Chicago. I made a note that I’ve retired from drinking and both the bartender and also I believe maybe, beverage director? Were more than willing to chat about N/A pairings and take care of me.

Food was very tasty and considering the all around sourcing and staffing challenges that most likely come with a location like that, everything was executed at a very high level. Standout of the night was the buckwheat pasta truffle dish, not just for being so unctuous but the complimentary pairing with the apple cider-ish mocktail named the Low Ball was a revelation.

Trout dish was awesome as well using every part of the awesome local fish, even a little trout skin Chicharron.

Most exciting flavor/texture combo I’ve had in a while was the ice cream that they plunge a red hot ember into the base before freezing. It was perfectly smokey, sweet and rich.

Super fun experience and I’ll be dropping in every time I’m in Big Sky.

Undoubtedly one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. I was super hyped to try M by Alinea since I made my reservation and the experience was every bit as perfect as I could’ve hoped for.

From the moment you walk in, the aroma and beautiful dining room set the tone, and the menu really reflects the vibe of Montana. Every course was creative, thoughtful, and genuinely delicious, with the two pasta dishes being some of the best food I’ve ever tasted. I highly recommend the non-alcoholic pairing, which was an experience by itself. These drinks were not your typical flavored ginger ale or lemonade, they were highly complex and actually paired with the food.

The service was impeccable, with perfect attentiveness and pacing between courses. The staff also handled my tree nut allergy flawlessly. Despite about half the menu items containing nuts, the substitutions were seamless and I didn’t feel like I missed out on anything.

I’m already thinking about a trip to Chicago to try the other Alinea restaurants.

Our dinner at M was a great experience, entirely living up to our expectations. What a treat to enjoy a dinner with the Alinea group right here in Big Sky this winter! Every course on the tasting menu was on point, with zero disappointments. I strongly recommend this dining experience!

TAG knocks it out of the park again. Truly an unforgettable experience at M. Came with a party of four and cannot recommend the tasting menu enough. From the moment you walk in, you’re sat & greeted with a caviar–almond financier and a brothy apple cider, immediately letting you know you’re in good hands.

The wine pairings somehow get better with every course, the space is elegant and cozy without feeling stuffy. Beautiful presentation, really creative flavor combinations, and zero issues accommodating my egg aversion (always appreciated). The surprise standout was a sorbet — perfect balance of intensity, salinity, and sweetness.

Came back another time just for cocktails and was very happy I did. Loved both the martini and the boozy hot chocolate with a genepy foam.
Already plotting my return to try the à la carte menu.

This was so fun! I’ve never been to a tasting before. It was nice to be able to treat myself and my husband. They were super flexible with my husband’s dietary restrictions and were able to find delicious substitutes. The food was beautiful and the tiny hot chocolate was a perfect prop for my dachshund when I got home.

Our server was kind, welcoming, and made sure we never felt overwhelmed. The sommelier was so knowledgeable and gave great notes on the wine pairings, which made us appreciate them even more. Everything that was put in front of us felt like it was simply perfect, and all the different tastes and flavors were unbelievable. It was absolutely magical.

The effort the staff put into explaining the food, the wine, you name it – it was an experience we will never forget.

Shocked that people think this restaurant is worth the money. We had the tasting menu which after tip was $900 per couple. No where near worth the price. Duck was fatty, ribeye was fatty…very fancy small portions or sub par food in my opinion. Service was good and the decor was fine. Go to Akira Back at One & Only.

Big Sky is so lucky to have this gem right in Mountain Village this winter. Must do the tasting menu – just trust in Chef Achatz and his amazing team to deliver a magical experience. The staff knowledge and storytelling about each dish is incredible. Highlights were the 14-day aged Pekin duck, the caviar-topped financier, and the Montana ribeye – though every bite was extraordinary. Great portions and value for the experience. The ambiance is warm and lively with perfect comfort food after a day of skiing. This pop up is only here until March, so run, don’t walk!
