Place is super cute, the menu options are named after roads and places in Rockford, which is really unique and clever. Food was delicious, I did think the portions were a bit on the smaller side, drinks also were on the smaller side, but overall food was great. I had the Lavender Iced Coffee Brew and it’s SO good if you like lavender! Servers were amazing and very attentive. Owner himself walked around tables to see how things were going with everyone’s service. Friendly and warm atmosphere, I will absolutely be coming here again 🙂

Lydia’s on Rural is my favorite breakfast diner in the Rockford area. You cannot beat the quality and variety of their menu as well as their prices. The service is always so friendly and gives you the best small town, friendly neighborhood feeling. My stomach and my soul always leave full.

Great quality food and atmosphere. We loved the taste and thought that went into the recipes and preparation. One problem. We didn’t even come close to being filled up. $13 for breakfast bowls and my wife who is barely over 100 pounds is still hungry? Why not at least add some more hashbrowns, which are cheap, to the base of the plate? We all know about inflation, but shrinkage and inflation, Shrinkflation? Sorry, but we will probably try a few other places before we come back around to Lydia’s.

Lydia’s is one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to! Everything was fresh! I mean everything! The salad, the bread, even the iced tea was fresh! I can’t tell you how often I’ve gone to a restaurant and the tea clearly was far from freshly brewed! The waiter suggested a sandwich that isn’t on the menu anymore and it blew my socks off! Why is not on the menu is beyond me but I’m glad he made the suggestion! Without a doubt, I’ll visit again the next time I’m in Rockford!

Very good lunch place. Open on Mondays! Food is fresh, portions are a bit smaller than a chain restaurant but the value is high. Very fresh salads, delicious sandwiches for lunch. Efficient service for lunch, waiter was a bit forgetful but pleasant.

My family and I came on a quick road trip from Chicago to Rockford. We wanted to explore the Japanese Gardens nearby but needed breakfast. Every dish was so delicious especially the eggs benedict and their incredible hash browns! The hospitality was incredible, my little 3 year old niece was given a coloring book to have fun while the adults dined. Then -at the end, they showed my little niece a treasure drawer and she was able to select a little toy and bracelet. It brought her so much joy and that is the customer service that makes a difference during family trips. We felt so at home. Thank you for a great experience!

I have been on the hunt for house made corned beef hash, and finally found it at Lydia’s! It was good too! Eggs were cooked perfectly to order, the hash was crispy, well trimmed of fat, and flavorful without being overly salty.

LYDIA’S on Rural St. will not see me no more. I work nights, came here for breakfast when I got off with a coworker to grab a bite because it was close and open early. Ate and then paid for meal and talked and chatted, catching up. “The manager” I guess comes over and says “we need to leave they need the table because people are waiting “. I get it we totally understand. But when we were leaving out no one was waiting and there were other tables available INSIDE AND OUTSIDE. I still thought nothing of it. My friend went back in to get something “the manager” told the waitress “it was time for them to go. they been here over 3 hours.” which was 100% a lie because I haven’t even been off work that long. Terrible way to talk about a customer.

A great place to start your day. Everyone working that particular day seemed happy and focused to serve the patrons in a professional manner including the wait time which was minimal. The extra space helped to expedite the process. All of us were happy to tip our servers since they really did an outstanding job from greeting, seating, and serving our food. Great experience. Thank you for that. Definitely going to come back soon
