This is one of the low key best restaurants in Newport News. Love their sides and cornbread. Potato salad is really good. Ribs are good, so are their wings. They have always been on point every time we have called, and they have never messed up my order. We have probably ate here a couple dozen times over the past few years, and food wise I haven’t had soul food that compares on the peninsula.
My only criticism is I wish there were more entree options on the menu, but honestly that’s just because the food is so good, and I would like to try more. Very few places in Newport News I would recommend, but this is definitely near the top.

Atmosphere and food were SO GOOD! Service was a bit slow as far as getting food and there were a couple items we ordered that we never received, but the server was nice. If you’re looking for a delicious, home cooked style meal this is the place to go!

It was the absolute best soul food! The ribs were falling off the bone, the collard greens were fresh- not canned. The green beans, fried chicken and cabbage were all amazing. The only draw back is the dated interior and supplies out in the dining area that looked junky.ill definitely go back!!

Lived in the area for years and had never eaten here. It was definitely my loss. The fried fish was cooked to perfection. Delicious flavor. Staff was super nice. We also got the Moby Whiteing sammich and it was huge and delicious. The strawberry crumble banana pudding is something that makes you sad when it’s gone. Will definitely be ordering again. Nice little hidden gem in Hampton.

I ordered 2 platters, turkey wings and fish, the sides were rice with gravy, sweet potatoes, collard greens, macaroni & cheese and another collard greens. I called the restaurant and the lady that answered the phone was very rude when I told her the food didn’t taste right, she got immediately upset and was hollering at me on the phone nevertheless I never ate my food because it tasted horrible!!!!!!! Mac was dry, collards too salty, sweet potatoes needed alot of help, turkey wings no seasoning and the brown gravy was awful!! The fish was very small!!! Never ever will I step foot back in this facility and by right I should get my money back! Turkey gravy goes with turkeywings.turkey wings. I wind up ordering pizza!!!

You really have to check this Family Own spot out! First ordering from them and the food is amazing. Everything that I ordered was immaculate and very delicious. Customer service was amazing! Due to the massive orders it was an hour wait but it is well worth it. Please be patient I went up there to place my order because phone orders was coming in nonstop. The gentleman who took my order was very friendly and attentive to every customer( not just me). While I waited I ordered a drink and it was very good. Everyone should checkout this spot if you would like a home cook meal and a drink during Happy Hours or just getting off work and you need to unwind. Go Check Them Out.

I love ordering here especially when you are in the mood for some good soul food! Great prices, awesome customer service. They do take a little longer on food. But it’s definitely worth the wait ! I always get the same thing. Sweet chili wings with macaroni & cabbage. Also the corn bread ! Is a hit every time.

This was my first time at this establishment and the customer service was warm and welcoming. I placed my order of chicken wings, candied yams, and collard greens with cornbread. Everything was exceptional! The chicken was seasoned and fried to perfection and the sides were equally as tasty! I also got a side of bread pudding but I’m so stuffed that that’ll have to wait until tomorrow. I’m sure it is going to be delightful as well. I will definitely be returning . Side note: everything is cooked fresh to order with love. I would recommend calling in your order ahead of time because the wait can be long. It’s not fast food…it’s great food…made as quickly as possible #delicious
