Absolute hole in the wall place! Michelin 2025 ?! Glad me and my friends tried this place out. It was an amazing experience with the food and the service. There was a sweet lady working there when we visited. She was the person handling operations in the front beside the kitchen staff. She went out of her way to give a dish to one of my friend’s kid, as she was concerned if the kid was eating. It was the care and afterthought that she had, and made it such a wonderful experience.

We had the JJ noodle and beef noodle which was hand made noodle, with perfect texture. The Xiao long Bao was really good, juicy and at a great price! Potstickers were crispy and packed, and we even really enjoyed their hot and sour soup. Their cold cucumber dish was cold and crisp!

Only thing to note is that the sign on top shows a beauty place where their actual logo and sign is under. They have outdoor and indoor seating, and are well prepared for any small children with high chairs. Definitely will be on one of my top go to spots from now on. Can’t wait to try some other dishes next time! Until then!

It’s a small informal place, not big on fancy decor….you might think it’s dark and dingy…and maybe the rating scares you off…but do not walk away like we almost did …stay stay stay and eat ….because the food is oh-so-gooooood. I’m allergic to shrimp and I was so happy to see that we could have won ton soup without shrimp…the menu is very clear about shrimp content. Yayyy finally. The pork fried dumplings are delicious, 5/5…perfectly fried perfect well-made dumplings!! The pork wonton soup made us smile. And my mom couldn’t believe the more-than-reasonable prices, no wonder the place was packed with young 20something Asian diners at noon. The kids know good cheap eats. Annie is the server doing everything so be patient, but she’s watchful and friendly…and if you need it, easy to flag her down. Annie is doing it all….very sweet and friendly.

Highly recommend.

The best dumplings I’ve had in the state. 100% authentic. I’ve been eating here for years! I found out they’re in the Michelin 2025 guide. Good job, Michelin, lol. It’s about time.

I cannot stress enough that this is the best spot in all of Socal for handmade dumplings and noodles — the flavor, the texture, the chew are all unreal. Only recently discovered Luyu but will forever be coming back to this hidden gem. I always order their classic beef noodle soup which is such a light, flavorful broth with these thick, knife-cut noodles. Other honorable mentions are the shrimp, pork, leek dumplings and scallion pancake. You can tell that everything is hand made — I even enjoy watching the chefs at work through the side door! Don’t let the run-down environment or rushed service get you because Luyu is seriously the best.

Our favorite spot got some recognition!
Been coming here since 2020! The food is always so fresh and delicious. Pork with fennel dumplings is my personal favorite. The chili spiced noodles are a must have.

Tried Luyu about 3 months ago. I have been coming back weekly since. Everything is good! I’m addicted to the smashed cucumber garlic salad and mixing it with the cold sesame noodles. Recommend the lamb dumplings as well. Also, shout out to Annie, she always takes our order and good care of us.

Wow our favorite dumpling place has just received a Michelin guide recommendation. This hole in a wall place serves the best dumpling. We’ve had. They hand-roll their skins and fill the dumpling with big portion of meat. The end result is a juicy satisfying dumpling that even our two year old would happily eat. This place is a must try for any dumpling lovers.

I love the waitress here, she’s always so nice to me. Food is like home cooking. Some dishes are more flavorful than others. I didn’t care for their noodles, a bit too tough on the chew. My repeats are the egg fried rice, the green wonton soup dumplings, and I rotate between the boiled dumplings and the XLB.

I wanted to like this place after seeing all the good reviews but I was confused after eating here. The service was fine, just slow. The inside of the restaurant is cramped and appears a little run down. The food was the worst part. I don’t know if it was an off day but we came on a Saturday morning and nothing tasted good. Even the rice was off and had a Play-Doh texture. The best part is the price- a whole plate of dumplings for less than $10. But I wouldn’t get them again.

We ordered three different dumplings and they all tasted off. Two of the dumplings were falling apart and the other one had hard dough for some reason as if the dumpling was stale. The pork in the dumpling had a strange texture, color, and didn’t taste like pork. The shrimp dumplings also had an off taste and texture and a hard dough. Hopefully it was just an off day and this isn’t what the food is like all the time.
