Food & service impeccable. Literally the only place worth picking up my own “carry out” orders from, vs other options that deliver.
Small dining room/bar (bottled beers) also perfect for quick & casual meals, or waiting for your take-away.
Expect patient & helpful but limited staff & counter service. This is a local/family owned and operated business doing everything the right way. I’m grateful it’s part of our local neighborhood.
We originally got sweet tea, but it tasted a little funky, they were more than happy to swap out for a soda. Everyone working was so nice.
I will be back to try more, thank you!
While watching Patti’s Mexican Table on PBS, I began to crave Mexican food. So I scrolled through some options not that far and landed on Lupita’s. First thing I noticed on the Google website “Menu” pictures was that a lot of the reviews weren’t that recent. There were good reviews and bad ones, but I wanted to decide for myself.
I ordered 2 of the #15 meals (1 burrito, 1 enchilada, and 1 tamale), and a steak quesadilla meal. First red flag was the menus didn’t have any prices. The prices had white out on them. The second red flag was the 2 combo meals did not come with rice and beans. I had to order them as a separate side item. The third red flag was when I got home, I noticed part of my order was missing. I had to drive back to Lupita’s. I showed them my receipt indicating what I ordered and I showed them the pictures of what I was given. Abuela thought that I ordered the #5. The granddaughter had to tell her no, it was quince (#15). So, after the confusion went away, my missing items were made along with two Chile Relleno stuffed with cheese that I ordered additionally during this return visit.
Over all, the meal I had wasn’t all that. The Chile Relleno was partially if not entirely cooked in the microwave (I actually saw it placed in it). The salsa appeared to be just pureed tomatoes with a few specks of cilantro in it. The rice and beans were bland. It just didn’t hit. And I know this restaurant can do better. I see the potential!
On the plus side, my daughter thoroughly enjoyed her quesadilla with steak. It came with rice on the side, lettuce, guacamole, and sour cream.
