Then we ordered the table side guacamole. Our server brought the ingredients to our table and he made our guacamole right in front of us. So fresh, limey and delicious.
I ordered the lunch chicken fajitas with all rice and no beans. Sorry, I forgot to take pictures. The chicken was very tender and seasoned well. The rice was good.
The weather was beautiful so we sat on the edge where the indoor tables meets the outdoor seating.
Excellent service. Perfect flow of drinks, guacamole then entree.
The night after, we had leftovers for dinner. More of the same. About a third of the beef couldn’t be chewed through. Gristle and rubbery beef tendons. Cheap cuts of beef at nearly 70$ for a pound. Hard to believe that the ratings have held up, given this poor quality.
So the response from the restaurant is to send my name, rank, and serial number so they can follow up. You have my review. That’s all I’m interested in. Your response did not include a word about how this batch of beef must have been a complete one-off, or what may have caused the issue.
The server Connie was amazing and tried to help figure out what happened with the drink. She had a great attitude and really did her best, and the host staff was also very kind. But after all that waiting, my wife ended up canceling our food order because we had somewhere to be and didn’t want to wait any longer.
When the margarita finally came, it was horrible. What stood out to me the most was that no manager ever came by to check in or address what was going on. There wasn’t a manager on the floor the entire time. If there are issues with the bar or kitchen, management should be out supporting their team, communicating with guests, and making sure people are taken care of.
If the restaurant is short-staffed, that’s understandable, but then adjust your seating or wait times so guests know what to expect. This location clearly needs stronger management presence and support for the staff. The hosts and Connie did their best, but leadership was missing.
I typically just get the steak fajitas with their complimentary chips, charro beans, and salsa. Even though they didn’t cut the meat across the grain, it still was incredibly tender and delicious. This is definitely an Austin staple. The atmosphere is more of a fast, casual feel. And sometimes there’s a wait just because they don’t have many waiters in that night.
One downside is there were quite a few mosquitoes in the bathrooms – probably because when the temperatures cool down they open the big glass garage doors to extend the patio.
