Me encanta Ruben & Luna’s!!! They have a nice beach spot, with lots of palm trees for shade & swing seats at the bar. Ruben is the owner & was very friendly, spoke English so good to talk to & get recommendations or ask questions, & generous. He gave me some good local mezcal that I had to go back & get my daily dose of & I didn’t even like mezcal before I left AZ! Also showed me since other crazy infused tequila! I loved having my mezcal shots & Pacifico beers on the beach. Their kayaks & paddleboards were free to take out, if order something. It was a fun & friendly place to hang out. Rest of staff was great & attentive too! Thanks Luna ‘s

When you first get into Costa Maya, you are flooded with shops and vendors trying to sell you something. Nobody wants to have a vacation spent like that, and Luna‘s Restaurant and Bar is the perfect answer. You take a taxi to a location few miles away from the port that you docked at, and get dropped off at the restaurant. I recommend getting the all you could drink and eat package, which for only US$61 is a good deal. They have authentic Mexican food, and one of the best tasting salsas that I’ve had. There are no vendors there, and it is limited to about 30 tourists, meaning that you will have a relaxing and quiet stay. The drinks are good, and they have all sorts of entrées including some vegetarian options. They are aware of allergies, and when you book an advance, they will take that into account and serve you accordingly. (I strongly recommend making a reservation as you were then guaranteed a spot.) They have a nice beach area with lots of shade and the option to also have a free kayack to paddle around in. While the service did get slower as the day progressed and more people came, I would say that it was a very positive experience and I would recommend Luna’s if you are vacationing in Costa Maya. See for yourself!

Luna’s was the first beach we visited after realizing our hotel (Pronoia Casa de Playa) didn’t have a swimmable beach due to sargassum — and it was such a refreshing change.
The service was genuinely good and welcoming, and the vibe was peaceful and quiet, away from the crowds brought in by the cruise ships. This made it feel like a little sanctuary compared to other parts of the malecón.
One of the biggest perks? They offer free kayaks and paddle boards, which was a pleasant surprise and a great way to enjoy the water. The beach itself was clean and calm, making it easy to relax and unwind.
If you’re looking for a more laid-back and less touristy beach experience in Mahahual, Luna’s is a solid choice — especially for those who want to be in the water without all the noise.

Seems pretty reputable, nice beachfront bar and felt pretty safe. Staff was very nice, maybe a little slow. The bathroom was surprisingly very clean. Cab ride was like $4 per person each way from the port. We wound up getting dropped off at the boardwalk and then walked here, took maybe 15 minutes, passed a whole lot of little merchant shops on the way.

Rented a golf-cart-thing from the port and was recommended to stop at a few different places, and this was one of them.
Was not disappointed in any way! Delicious food, inexpensive beer, decent beach with boats to use, and hammocks to chill in.

We camped here for about a week. $180 pesos for a tent, foam mattress and pillow right on the beach. Ideal if you’re on a budget – nice to have the bar, sun loungers and beach to hang out. The whole fried fish was the best meal we had here. Friendly staff and nice location!

We did the All Inclusive package for this beach. $61 USD for all you can eat and all you can drink. Alejandro was the best server and made the experience the best. Super quiet and small beach, nice and secluded. The drinks were good and the food was so fresh, delicious and flavorful!

We rented a golf cart from the red shirts at port and cruised out here to Playa Lunas. What a dream spot!! No pushy sales. Beautiful cleaned and raked beach. Calm water. Excellent food and drinks. We were the only ones from 3 cruise ships out there. I promise you won’t regret the extra couple minutes to get out of the chaos and chill on this beach!

We rented golf carts for the day and this bar/beach was recommended as a spot away from the crowd. We were served great drinks and food. Great massages as well. We spoke with others about their experiences at the big places. We paid less, were not approached by vendors and really loved our experience. Shaded spots and bar. Clean white sand beach. This will be our go to spot on future trips.

Came here on the recommendation of a friend. I generally don’t get off the ship when I’m Costa Maya, so I was quite pleased to find this hidden gem!
Drinks are large and strong, food was delicious and our server was outstanding. They also have massages offered for a reasonable price it was only $5 a person for cab fare from the cruise port which is a great deal
