The atmosphere was wonderful, and the staff were incredibly kind and welcoming — every single person greeted us with a smile and made us feel so comfortable throughout the entire meal.
We ordered the Paella and IAY BENDITO!, and both dishes were outstanding.
The IAY BENDITO! skirt steak was perfectly cooked, incredibly tender, and full of flavor — truly delicious.
The Paella was one of the best I’ve had in a long time: the seafood was extremely fresh, and they were very generous with the amount of shrimp, mussels, and other seafood. Every bite was flavorful and satisfying, and it honestly made me so happy to enjoy such a well-made paella again.
Between the amazing food, great atmosphere, and genuinely friendly service, this place left a fantastic impression.
I would absolutely come back here every time I visit San Antonio, and I highly recommend this restaurant!
We had no idea Guy Fieri had visited here until after we ordered—and he got the Grand Caribbean Nachos – so we decided to get it with Churrasco steak – the nachos were packed with flavor. I tried the Gauva juice (tastes like guava!) and it was super refreshing.
One unexpected highlight? The plantain soup. It honestly tasted just like my mother-in-law’s—rich, full of flavor, like culture in a bowl (just without the attitude ). You could really taste the plantain in it—so good.
Alejandro, who greeted us at the door, also ended up being our server. He was so sweet and considerate, really took his time explaining things and making sure we were happy with everything.
My husband also tried the café bonbon (a coffee drink) and kept saying how good it was!
Highly recommend—great food, great vibes, and great service. 10/10 from us!
The music was also on point, a mix of salsa and reggaeton . We made it on time for their happy hour as well and had $3 beers , good size. Overall , I highly recommend it. The owner also stopped by our table and gave us a tour of the place , and invited us to come out for their Halloween party later at night , such a great spot and people !
For the main dish, we ordered the paella, and it was amazing! The portion was very generous — honestly enough to feed two or even three people. The seafood and rice were flavorful and cooked just right. You can tell the chef put love into that dish.
For drinks, I had a piña colada and my husband ordered a sangria. The piña colada was tasty but came in a pretty small glass, and for being a Puerto Rican restaurant, I expected that signature island punch and creamy flavor. The sangria was okay, just not very bold or fruity.
The music really stood out — it gave that perfect Puerto Rican vibe and made the whole place feel lively. The service, though, could have been a bit warmer. Puerto Ricans are known for their friendly, welcoming energy, and I didn’t quite feel that from our waiter. It also surprised me that our server didn’t speak Spanish, considering this is a Puerto Rican restaurant. Having bilingual staff would definitely make the experience feel more authentic and comfortable for everyone.
One area that definitely needs attention is the restrooms — they were not in the best shape and took away from the otherwise pleasant atmosphere.
Overall, Luna Rosa has great potential. The food was delicious, the music was fantastic, and the overall experience was enjoyable. With a few improvements in service, drink quality, and restroom upkeep, this place could easily become a top spot for authentic Puerto Rican food.
If you’re craving some island flavors, Luna Rosa is worth a visit — just come for the food, stay for the music, and hope they fine-tune the rest. ✨
To begin, the atmosphere was amazing! The music was a little too loud, but that’s a given. The old building used to be one of my absolute fav restaurants named hotjoy so I figured I’d give the new place a try.
Me and my husband both ordered the Mofongo. It was okay. 3.5/5. Overall it was kind of dry. I asked to order more sauce to give it some moisture The drinks were soooo tasty though. I got 2 sangrias, mmm
The waitress was really sweet too. Very kind as well! She was definitely trying to upsell us under our noses though. This was our first time trying Puerto Rican food. There was a lot of food on the menu we’ve never heard of. We asked her what would she recommend to someone first trying Puerto Rican food & she offered us both the most expensive plates in the menu. As she states these plates were “big enough to feed two people” & she recommended we both get them? Some dishes on the menu do not list the price. So out of curiosity we asked the price of the dish. She reveals that the price of the plate she recommended us was almost $70! Yes I know that’s apart of the game. I know it’s a business & im not trying to knock her hustle, but I just wish she was more upfront that’s, all. we ALMOST ordered those plates. Imagine the surprise that would’ve been at the end of the night hahaha!.. woah! Get your money tho hun
We will definitely be coming back for the happy hour menu for sure. We got the habanero shrimp and the chicken kebabs. 10/10. So yummy!!!
This is definitely a place you would come to catch a cool vibe with your friends. Get some good drinks & catch a quick bite. I’d recommend this place the most for its happy hour selection.
Total came out to $150!
Heads up Wed – Fri 11am to 3pm is $18 all you can eat buffet
The service was great. Our server was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, as well as allergy awareness which we appreciated. The birthday celebration which a group sang was really enjoyable.
The menu offered a variety of options that catered to all tastes for kids and adults. The dishes were delicious to freshness.
The drinks were equally impressive. The cocktail selection featured a range of creative options, and non alcoholic selection for our group.
Overall, Luna Rosa provided a memorable birthday celebration. The combination of exceptional service, delicious food, and refreshing drinks made for an unforgettable evening.
