Luna Ristorante – Authentic Italian Dining Experience in Newmarket
Reviews
When we tried to book a table for 8:00 p.m., the restaurant insisted we come earlier—yet when we arrived, we noticed the dining room wasn’t full at all. There were only two servers working, and it took quite a while before anyone came over. No one offered us water, drinks, or bread at the beginning, which is something we usually expect at an Italian restaurant. We waited about 20 minutes before someone finally took our order and nearly half an hour more for the first dish to arrive.
By then, it was already close to 8:30 p.m., which made us wonder why we couldn’t have booked for that time in the first place.
We ordered the Bruschetta, veal main course, one pasta, one pizza, and a carpaccio. Honestly, once the food arrived, our frustration quickly melted away—the dishes were that good! Everything was beautifully cooked and full of flavor. The pasta, which was a short spiral shape, was perfectly al dente (a tricky balance many places don’t get right). The pizza was another highlight—thin, slightly chewy yet crisp at the edges, and very fragrant. We ended up finishing every drop of sauce from our plates.
In the end, the quality of the food completely turned around our impressions of the evening. It’s rare for a meal to change one’s mood so completely, but Luna’s cooking did just that.
Despite the slow service and lack of attention at the start, the food was so delicious that we all agreed we’d come back again.
Hopefully, next time the service will match the excellent standard of the kitchen.
Unfortunately, they are no longer there, and with them much of that spirit seems to have disappeared. The warmth, the human connection, the feeling of being welcomed are now missing. What was once a joyful experience has become something very different.
Melanie and Domenic, you are truly missed.
When the restaurant was first handed over to the new owners, the quality was still fairly good and it seemed like they were trying to maintain the original standards. However, over time the experience has unfortunately declined a lot.
During our recent visit, both the food and the service were very disappointing and noticeably different from what Luna used to offer. Even if the recipes were passed on, the execution and overall quality no longer reflect the level that Melanie and Dominic had established.
It’s really disappointing to see the Luna name and reputation being affected like this.
Overall great experience, Ivy and Pravin were very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Oh also, they serve warm bread with olive oil and balsamic for dipping, a small but lovely touch that definitely won me over
We started with some appetizers, and the bruschetta was fresh and flavorful. For the main course, I had the pasta, and it was amazing. The pizza was also top-notch, with a thin, crispy crust and a ton of mushrooms.
The wine selection was great, and they had some nice options to pair with the meal. Overall, Luna Ristorante was delicious Italian food in a lovely setting.
The food was fantastic—full of authentic, bold flavours that left a lasting impression. Our favourites were the Fritto Misto, Bruschetta, and the Seafood Linguini, all perfectly paired with a great wine selection. The whole family was delighted, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommend!
I started with the Caesar salad, which was crisp, fresh, and perfectly dressed. For my main course, I had the New York Strip-Loin, cooked to absolute perfection—tender, juicy, and packed with flavour. To finish, I indulged in the crème brûlée, which was rich, creamy, and had the perfect caramelized top.
Luna Ristorante is a must-visit. I can’t wait to return!
