At 4:30 PM, the door unlocked without fanfare.
The experience became much more fun after that. The host staff was fantastic. Funny and engaging.
The food was unique and delicious. The tamales were sweet corn.. The salty sweet, was really good. The poblano stuffed pepper was also really good. I got it with the extra shrimp, totally the right answer.
Becca, the general manager, was very accommodating. She helped move tables for my large group so everyone can see each other easier.
Most of the people in my group had been here before, and I can see why. At least half of the group ordered a dessert to go. Super cool little place with a fun, energetic vibe.
Seated immediately without reservation on a Saturday but we got there early. The place was full by the time we left.
As other reviews have pointed out, this place seems to aim for Latin fusion but misses the mark. The chips we received were clearly store-bought, and the passion fruit skinny mojito was underwhelming—light on alcohol, lacking freshness, and not worth the $13 price tag.
For the first time in years, I chose not to order an entrée. After seeing the presentation of the appetizer and tasting the drink, I had enough. My partner, who is from Puerto Rico, didn’t even feel comfortable trying the water.
The guacamole was good but the chips were definitely store bought.
The service was great. Music choice was questionable and offensive at best.
Also only saw 1 “ethnic” person working in an ethnic restaurant. Personally, I feel like this restaurant is catered to the “Karen” kind. The ones that want to feel like they’re eating food from another nationality without the commitment to the actual culture.
