We are a Latin American cuisine restaurant, specifically based on Venezuelan food, which is the typical foods, beverages, and cooking styles common to many of the countries and cultures in Central and South America. Venezuelan cuisine is influenced by its European (Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, and French), West African and Native American traditions. Venezuelan cuisine varies greatly from one region to another. Food staples include corn, rice, plantain, yams, beans and several meats. Potatoes, tomatoes, onions, eggplants, squashes, spinach and zucchini are also common sides in the Venezuelan diet.

Not a great stop if you only have an hour for lunch. Went for lunch and was one of only 3-4 groups of people there about an hour after they opened. It took over 30 min to get our food, and we just ordered tacos. But the food was SOOOO YUMMY! Definitely don’t recommend if you aren’t willing to wait.

Authentic Latin cuisine. They didn’t have a kids menu but I was able to order a kids quesadilla. The food was excellent. Very big portions. Taste was great. It all came out hot. I would recommend it. I think our waitress was new. She didn’t really ask us about refills or anything. We had to ask her and she wasn’t sure of our drinks. Still, she was nice and the food came out right. she wasn’t afraid to go ask someone for an answer she didn’t know either. So, maybe it’s just growing pains and she will get better. Nevertheless it was a good experience.

Delicious food, super friendly staff, not a fan of the cocktails. (Sorry!!!) We had a great experience here. We enjoyed every dish we tried, except for the burger, which had peppers in the beef patty and it was not what we had expected it to be. It tasted more like sausage. The Mexican street corn dip was delicious! The arepa stuffed with roast pork was very yummy, as was the shredded steak/beef taco. The mixed drinks just weren’t very good. My mojito was very tart / bitter and hard to drink. I also tried the watermelon cocktail and wasn’t a fan. But overall, the food was amazing and the experience was great! We would definitely eat here again.

Interesting menu. Many South American, Caribbean/Cuban dishes. A for effort.
Like many places they seem to struggle with staffing. I hope things get better.
Lunch experience is generally better than dinner. It’s a counter order situation-unless there is a waitress…it’s clean, friendly and comfortable for a quick meal.
If they can pull off a genuine baked chicken mole I’ll be a regular. They are my only hope in town for this.

Stopped in mid-day. First time visiting. I ordered 2 shrimp tacos & rice. Holy Smokes, hands down the best shrimp tacos I’ve had in my 58 years. Rice was outstanding. In short the food was fresh, flavorful, and delicious. Ended up ordering a 3rd taco. You may go to Avondale for a beer but, definitely go to La Luna for the food.

Update 5/3/24: Another delicious visit! The tacos are just amazing and stuffed with fresh and well-crafted ingredients. The cocktails are super solid. Luna is one of the best dining deals in Avondale, if not BHM. If you haven’t tried Luna, you can improve your life by going asap.

You can get good cocktails here for under $10! And the food is excellent. I’ve been to Luna many times over the past few years, and will keep going back. This time we went on taco Tuesday. The fish taco was huge and delicious. We also got the Cuban, club and salmon tacos. They were all really good and not skimpy. We also got Cuban & chicken salad tostones, which were crispy and full of flavor. Portions are generous at Luna, for both drinks and food dishes. When the weather is good like it was this evening, the open area is a great spot. Strongly recommend.

Fantastic restaurant for a burger. I got the Luna burger, it was delicious. Fries were perfectly cooked as well, really liked their seasoning. Staff are very nice. The place has big tables outside good for groups of 8-10 people and on a sunny day like yesterday, it was amazing to be there. Good food, people, and place – what else do you need? Try them. You’ll be satisfied.

Great service but underwhelming food. The location is airy and lively. Service was fast once I was able to place my order at the counter. I ordered pork tostones and a Mexican mule. The tostones looked amazing but were surprisingly bland. The plaintains were dry and the toppings lacked flavor. I’ve visited Costa Rica,Colombia, and Mexico and the dish just didn’t live up to my expectations. I did take the rest of my order to go for a second opinion but the dish just lacked seasoning. The drink tasted okay but wasn’t nearly as strong as most mules I’ve had.I initially left my tab open since I usually love mules but was not inclined to try a second one.Overall, alot of potential but not my first thought for Latin Food in the area.

Great spot in an old repurposed fire station. Was not busy at lunch on a rainy Saturday. Floor is cement and ceilings are high, so dress warmly if the weather’s cool.
Ordered pabellon, the arepa burger with fries, and the fruit cachapa for dessert. All were great. Fries might be the best I’ve had in the area so far.

The lighting/ambiance can use some improvement (fluorescent lights and metal tables and chairs and cement floors feel much too cold and cafeteria-like and not like a warm inviting restaurant). The food is truly great though — we loved the tostones (ordered some pork and some beef, both were amazing), and the arepas are delicious.
