This will definitely be our new spot now!
it is a bit small from the outside, but I thought it was charming & a well thought of use of space. The wait for the food went by fast, as we got to browse the little market they also run, where they have lots of ingredients you can buy, premade food items & desserts and drinks I’ve never got to try, so of course I went home with some ! Definitely not a corporate giant, and well worth your business!
At first we went in and noticed all the Filipino goodies before trying to figure out where to order our food. Once we got to the counter, we asked the lady up front if we can order the food as al a carte, no rice. She said we could it would be $9 vs $14.99.
We ordered the chicken adobo ($9), kare-kare, ($9) pork sisig ($17), lechon ($25) SEE PICS BELOW.
For $70 with tax, this was totally not worth it. When we got the bag we should have known it was so light in weight. You couldn’t even feed 3 adults with this amount of food. Total ripoff!
Save yourself the trip, do not order Filipino food from here.
The Chicken Adobo was very tender and yummy. The flavor was more subtle than I anticipated, but it was a nice mild dish.
The pork sticks were a little tough and overcooked, but the char and the glaze was delicious. The shrimp were fresh and light, but again didn’t have a lot of flavor.
The Boba tea is just as you would expect, with nice springy Boba. The Turon dessert could benefit from a warm caramel sauce or something, I ended up drizzling a little Carolina Reaper Jalapeño Peach sauce on them, which helped to brighten them up.
Will be ordering again next time we’re doing a family reunion at Folly Beach!
Thank you po Lumpia House!
I want to start with how the food is so bland. I had the menudo, Kare kare, and dinuguan. The broth was so thin, and lacked some ingredients. The kare kare was EXACTLY like the menudo except for the meat. Literally cooked the same base, but changed the meat. And the dinuguan was greasy! I can see the oil separating from the food.
I also tried their pancit and it was terrible. Bland, dry, and oily. I even took a picture of how small that portion is. For 7$, that’s what you get.
I also tried the fried rice and it is the WORST fried rice I’ve ever purchased. It’s literally just white rice with soy sauce and oil drizzled on it. No vegetables or meat in it.
I tried their lumpia. Even my husband was disappointed. His first bite and he says “it tastes off.. like plastic.” Even my 2 year old wouldn’t eat it…. I’m so disappointed.
Second, I want to say how the food is really overpriced. Small portions for such an expensive AWFUL- tasting food!
When you first come in the store, you don’t even see any pictures of the food, nor is the food displayed on front of you, like how it normally is in other Filipino restaurants. It’s like they’re hiding something in how they prepare their food. So really, you don’t know what to expect when you get the food.
I’m born and raised from the Philippines and experienced MANY Filipino food here in the states. This is by far my worst experience when it came to Filipino food.
