Seafood restaurant serving Maine-style lobster rolls with toasted buns, plus clam chowder.
The Baseline
The Baseline: For a seafood fast casual restaurant the fish/seafood needs to be fresh, the presentation of the food should be comforting and respect the delicacy of the seafood, and there must be a selection of accompanying offerings.
Food: The lobster is high quality here and the preparation is excellent. The Lobster Roll sampler is really good to try the different preparations. The full lobster roll is meaty and filling. The chips are nice but wish I had fries. The soda selection is awesome (got a Maine Blueberry soda). The price is what you get when you order the lobster.
Service: Counter order deliver to your table service. Good and efficient.
Ambiance: The restaurant is really well presented and has good decor. The bathroom was clean. The seating was well laid out and the lighting was good in the restaurant. Unfortunately, the outside is Santa Monica 2025 and is sketchy at night (not the restaurant’s fault)

This was a decent place. Being a seafood guy originally from the East Coast, I’ve had good and bad seafood. The price was hefty for a small lobster roll. The bread was fresh and lobster meat was chilled without any seasonings (Old Bay or another seasoning with garlic or paprika, for example, would have been terrific options to add some zest to the sandwich). The Lobster Roll combo came with a bag of chips, soda, and a pickle totalling about $33.00. There was a seafood flight available for $43.00, which included three rolls: crab, lobster, and shrimp. The lone lobster roll wasn’t really filling. This would be a good pre-lunch place; eat here and then wait an hour and go to another place for a bigger lunch . It was clean inside. Recycle-friendly. Menu was easily accessible and posted for viewing. I probably wouldn’t come back for anything. But, that’s the magic of California–the state with the most restaurants in America.

I was excited to try Luke’s Lobster in Santa Monica, and while the roll was fresh, it left me wanting more. The lobster meat was served cold and lacked flavor, which made the overall experience feel underwhelming. A warm, buttery lobster roll would have made a huge difference.
Also, it would have been nice if they provided butter without charging extra — that should be a basic part of a lobster roll experience. The quality is there, but small details like warmth and simple add-ons (like butter) would really elevate it.
Overall, it was good, but for the price and reputation, I expected a bit more attention to flavor and service.

Was just ok. I’ve had it at another location in Vegas and loved it. This time I liked it but not sure I would go back. I got the Mainer so 6oz lobster roll with clam chowder, chips and a drink. Also got the seafood flight which was 2oz of crab, 2 oz of lobster and 2oz shrimp. For the lobster, there was seasoning on top that I wasn’t a fan of maybe if I do go back I’ll order it warm just with butter. Staff was friendly and there as lots of seating both inside and outside. It’s located a block or two from the Main Street near the beach.

Having visited Luke’s in New York and also ordered online to our West Coast home, was guardedly excited to see how this phenomenal product has translated out west. I was delightfully surprised with not only the consistently amazing food, but also the accommodating and attentive customer service. I took an order to go with about an hour and a half drive to my home from the Santa Monica location and everything arrived perfectly and we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Keep up the great work!!!!

The employees were phenomenal! The moment we walked in they were so kind and full of energy it made the entire experience delightful. And the food was 12/10! Highly recommend the Lobster Roll or the Lobster grilled cheese. Will definitely be coming back.

My friend and I had a lovely dinner at Luke’s!! All of their food was fresh and delicious. We both got the seafood flight. The lobster and crab were so flavorful and I would go back for both.
We also tried the chowder and it was such a treat on a cold evening. The team there was super attentive and sweet. Brent really took care of us.
If you are looking for a chill place to meet up after work, look no further. This spot is great! There is also a Santa Monica parking lot next door with 90 min free parking.

You can’t put a bomb lobster roll place in Santa Monica like this and expect me to pay my mortgage every month. This place was phenomenal, from the friendly staff down to the fresh lobster, shrimp and crab that is being dished out over there at Luke’s. Not to mention, the mission of community, D, E &I and sustainability, what’s not to love about Luke’s Lobster. The only problem I have, is how am I can afford to eat there as much as I want to! And not that it’s over-priced, but because it tastes so good, I would be there everyday. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still lobster so it’s costly but again, sustainable and delicious! I highly recommend grabbing a seafood flight, lobster grilled cheese or just straight up lobster roll! Also, shout out to Damian, staff member at Luke’s, who was extremely helpful and went over and above just taking our order.

To let you know, I am a Swede, so maybe this review is suitable for northern Europeans. Luke’s lobster has fantastic service and fantastic food. The lemon butter lobster roll is the best in my opinion. The vinegar chips has too much vinegar and the truffle lobster roll has a strong artificial truffle flavour taking over the roll, but it is still decently good. I will eat here again, despite the ridiculously high price.
