We ordered a beat salad which was the “special” it arrived with no dressing. We ate it for a while and disliked it very much. It wasn’t until I asked the server if it was supposed to come with a vinaigrette or something, when she brought it it truly made the salad go.from hardly palatable to pretty good.
My wife had the steak sandwich which was fantastic, simple, cooked perfectly.
My daughter had a cheese pizza, the undercarriage was burned badly and while the sauce was fantastic it didn’t save the burned taste from the pizza.
I had the pulled pork mac and cheese. Fantastic!!!
My wife daughter and I noticed a disabled homeless person trying to take shelter under a tree while it was raining outside before we came in. We told them we would bring them some food. I asked our server if she would please get us a second order of the steak sandwich but put it into two boxes split up so I could give a half sandwich to two of the homeless people I saw. As well I split up the french fries for them.
The waitress advised us that would be a $5 split plate charge. It seemed very odd to have to mention that. I’ve never heard of boxing an order in two boxes costing an additional $5. So I asked her to bring me out the food on a plate so I could put it in the box myself and avoid the $5 up charge which seemed completely unnecessary.
Overall the environment and atmosphere was the best part. The cozy fireplace as well as the brick walls work great. The service was subpar and the food was a mix of poor average and fantastic depending on what we were eating. Would I go back? Probably not. Would I warn you against going No. I think they’re capable of much better than they provided today.
I had the seafood linguine which I found disappointing, it was lacking in flavor for the most part, I ate the seafood on top and left the rest. I had some of my friends Tuscan shrimp which was absolutely delicious, so if you like seafood I would recommend this dish instead. I also tried some of the New York strip, it was cooked nicely and had a great sear taste.
We shared the calamari for an appetiser, it was very good too, lots of flavor in the batter.
The table was so u even that our drinks spilled every time either of us placed any wait on the table. Our waitress was very pleasant but the food was mid level diner quality. Unfortunately I’ve had better (and better seasoned) steak and potatoes from Mel and day’s diner across the road for 1/2 the price. Not sure why I paid $56 before tax for unseasoned Ribeye that required me to ask for A1 sauce , and cold bland potatoes that had 4 undercooked broccolinni thrown on it. Sorry for the long vent, just expected date night to be worth the over $200 we spent and I was still hungry and disappointed. I had higher hopes for this place
The hostess was super friendly and sat us immediately, however the waitress was short and we felt that we were more of a inconvenience to her.
All in all we will try it again.
We both ordered the bison burger. The burger itself was cooked appropriately to temperature, they were accommodating and added cooked jalapenos (highly recommend that, added a wonderful, spicy flavor) and avocado. Both of us enjoyed our burger. The fries however…. were very dry. I couldn’t finish the fries. Strongly recommend a different side.
My partner enjoyed the aperol spritz (pictured below), she said it was refreshing and perfectly balanced. She would order it again.
All in all I’d say the food equaled out to a 4. We’d come back but we’ll avoid the fries.
The atmosphere is classy in a casual way, feel free to dress up or just be comfortable. They have a fun bar area with a TV and plenty of great bourbon and other spirits, the menu of cocktails is a great mix of custom, classic & creative. And their dining area includes a lovely fireplace, mountain style architecture with distressed brick, love it!
Service is fast, friendly and enjoyable, from the hostess, to the servers to the bar tenders, great all around!!
