Firstly, I ignore any review based on delivery (door dash, grub hub, etc.). Once it leaves the restaurant it’s out of their hands. And besides, delivery usually takes time and the pizza and other items sit in a box or container and steam and get soggy. But I know lazy people will never give up delivery – enjoy your steamy mush.
Secondly, you have to be discerning in what you order – Look at the specialty slice pizzas in the showcase. Yes, sometimes certain types of slices will sit there for hours and dry up a little. You can always try putting your phone down and having a human-style conversation and politely state “this one looks a little old, can you add sausage to a new slice?”. I’m sure they’ll accommodate, although this can’t be done with certain specialty slices like mac-and-cheese, penne vodka, salad slices, etc.
I think it would be nice if counter staff would be a little more friendly. Some are very transactional and cut and dry…It can come across as feeling like you’re just an order and not a customer. This is a simple matter of training and selecting the right person for the job, although I understand good service-oriented employees are not easy to find these days.
Their slices are normal to large in size. I’ve noticed plain cheese slices are fairly large. There’s a cute attempt by another review pointing out the “smaller pizza sizes”. Sometimes when a whole pizza is cut, it’s rushed and not done perfectly symmetrical – resulting in smaller slices than others. This is not an issue when ordering a whole pie, as you are getting the whole pie. I’m referencing the review with a picture of her hand next to a very small slice, when other larger slices are in the picture. A reasonable person can see the cuts were simply not done as equally as they should be. This is not indicative of the overall pizza size, but nice try.
Overall, Luigi’s is a respectable pizzeria that turns out some good pizza. Like most pizzerias, it’s always best to order fresh. It remains as one of our top 2 pizzerias in the area. Anyone saying they are “the worst” is clearly exaggerating. This is why I write reviews – to provide a touch of reality and balance to the the drama reviewers.
All pizzas were delivered on time in good condition and we ate everything quickly.
