What an amazing place!! Was not disappointed!! The service for one, is incredibly friendly and humble. I was treated like a Queen . The food is even better. The candied Burnt Ends were tender, not overly fatty and well seasoned with just a little kick. Ribs!? 10 out of 10! Very tender and flavorful with the perfect chew. Falling of the bone, to me, is not that desirable. Get the homemade fried okra and extra hushpuppies. I can’t wait to visit Asheville again!

This is an awesome place to go to for bbq. The brisket is amazing and cooked perfectly. The deviled eggs were some of the best I’ve ever had. The staff are all super friendly and great at what they do. The atmosphere there is very welcoming and enjoyable, plenty of seating.

The wings were absolutely out of this world- I would come back and just order those. The brisket was rich, fatty and moist. I could skip the Mac and cheese if I returned but man oh man those BBQ sauces were dynamite. This plate was about $30 with tip, so it isn’t a budget meal, but wonderful stuff.

We had a lovely visit here last evening while briefly in the area. They are doing alright after the terrible hurricane thankfully!!!!! Over the years this has been our favorite go to spot and yesterday was no different. Food very tasty, plentiful, feel is a positive price point. I personally can be a bit picky about barbecue, I really don’t care for excessive fat in my meat and I find the brisket is perfectly lean!! 2 employees who are new to us as we haven’t been back in two years, Ian and Sheryl were very pleasant, smiles on their faces, communicative, and remained diligent in providing great service. They have had some updates on their menu, not as many side choice selections but the ones we all chose were most appetizing! I do miss the pineapple casserole side and was told its available on the menu in the fall. Spouse also feels their beer selection is great. They were all out of the popular homemade banana and wafer pudding, but just gives us something to look forward to during our next visit as we will absolutely continue to eat here. Positive all around! Tasty, clean, and lovely folks all working inside thank you thank you!

Cherry bomb BBQ was so good I bought some extra to go.
Didn’t love the Brunswick stew but I’m from Florida and I’m just used to something different. I think.
Smoked wings were my favorite! Don’t forget to ask for a punch card if you’re going to be coming back.

Our visit to Luella’s was 30 minutes before closing, with no other customers in the restaurant, on a cold Monday night. You may think this meant we received left over food from the bottom of the barrel, and that the staff was itching to leave for the night, but it was exactly the opposite. The staff was warm, welcoming, and friendly, and the BBQ was PHENOMENAL. We’ve sampled BBQ in several different locations, from Texas, to St. Louis style, and Carolina, and Luella’s ranks up there with some of the best. We tasted several different items, including the brisket and mac, and cheese, and their absolutely amazing hush puppies (possibly the best anywhere) but the star is the pulled chicken. This isn’t typical BBQ pulled chicken. This is full, fresh whole chicken, deboned, slow cooked, ripped apart, and melt in your mouth. We would visit again in a heartbeat.

I read about this place and we had to check it out while we were in town. In short, everything was delicious! One of the best BBQ places I’ve ever had and being from Alabama I’ve had my fair share! I had the build your own with pulled pork and smoked wings, green beans and mac and cheese. Those wings were my favorite and definitely worth it. Blue cheese with them was also very good. My husband and in laws enjoyed their meals as well. The staff were helpful with food and sauce recommendations and checked on us several times. Just a good experience all around. Will be back!

My partner and I were in search of some good BBQ while visiting the Carolinas and settled on this place. We are so glad we did! We tried many things and everything was so flavorful and delicious! We joked that if we lived in town we would eat there all the time.

With its high ratings I couldn’t resist, and I was lucky enough to walk to it while staying nearby. I ordered online which was very easy and convenient. The pickup time was also provided when I ordered which I appreciated.
I ordered the wing tray. The wings were definitely a generous size and I had enough for 3 meals as I can really only eat 2 with the sides. They were delicious and presented in a foil wrap in an appealing way. The sauce was also wrapped to prevent spillage which shows attention to detail. The Mac and cheese was good, but the star of the meal was the hush puppies! I rarely find them this awesome. They are dangerously good! It’s a good thing I am only here a couple of days 🙂
I was pleasantly greeted at the counter and the food was ready at the time promised. I walked out happy and excited to enjoy this treat!
One thing I was confused when I opened the meal was, there was only 1 sauce and the online ordering showed you could choose 3. I’m not sure if the wings were already flavored with the other 2 sauces but I only received 1 of the 3 that I chose.
Other than that it was great!
