Reviews
Service: 4/5
Ambiance: 4/5
Portion to Price: 3/5
Overall: We came for the dessert after strolling around Napa.
The extended review…
Dessert: 4/5 – We decided to share a few desserts and they were all delicious. My favorite was the chocolate cake which was very moist and rich.
Service: 4/5 – Friendly service.
Ambiance: 4/5 – We actually sat around the bar area and because it was later at night we were the only ones there while others were in the main dining room.
Portion to Price: 3/5 – A little on the pricy side but I mean we are talking about Yountville.
Additional charges were added to my bill without explanation, and only after I pushed for clarity was the meal comped — a meal I couldn’t even eat and waited over an hour, outside.
When I voiced my frustration to Paloma, the focus shifted from resolving the issue to managing my reaction. That dynamic landed as manipulative — as though my legitimate disappointment became the offense, rather than the restaurant’s mistakes.
The service felt performative, not genuine, and the kitchen continues to miss the mark on both quality and honesty about ingredients.
For a property of Bardessono’s caliber, this experience was far below expectations. Guests deserve transparency, professionalism, and real hospitality — none of which were present here.
The brunch menu had some solid choices, and while everything was GOOD, it all tasted like it was trying really hard to be unoffensive. Maybe that’s the vision — providing food that settles well in the stomach so as not to disturb a recent detox.
Service was a bit slower than expected, but nothing egregious. I wasn’t too bothered as it gave us more time to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere, but this is probably not the place to go if you want something fast.
Skip the pastry basket and breakfast hash, opt instead for the omelet of the day (substitutions allowed) or the chilaquiles. Yum!
However, service was a bit lacking. We were rarely checked on and often waited for quite awhile at various points of our meal. For just two people, I think we were there a couple of hours. It was a bit puzzling since other tables that arrived around the same time or after all made it out before us.
The most significant issue is with the pet menu. It’s always fun as dog people to get something if a hotel or restaurant has a menu with options for pets. We ordered the grass fed beef and carrots for our dog and unfortunately a few days later, she started having indigestion and vomiting. A few more days and $1000 at the vet later, she tested positive for pancreatitis. Given that her regular food didn’t change and she was never left unwatched, the only outlier in her diet before getting sick is the grass fed beef and carrots. After some research into the causes of pancreatitis, this was either ground beef with high fat content that isn’t good for any dog’s digestive system or was cross contaminated with spices or food poisonous to dogs.
We’ll be consulting with our vet during a follow-up appointment to go over blood work and confirm this theory, but right now given all of the available information, all signs point to the food from the pet menu here having given our dog pancreatitis. It is not an exaggeration to say that had we not been able to get our dog seen when we did, or had not been able to pay for her care, she would have died as untreated pancreatitis is fatal.
Our vet has since confirmed that it was the pet menu food here that caused our dog’s pancreatitis. The property has yet to respond to any attempt to discuss this.
We both ordered the chilaquiles with pulled chicken and a side of the apple cider pancakes. The chilaquiles were basic tortilla chips with a runny egg a blended sauce and less than two oz of chicken. Here are my issues the runny egg had not only the yolk runny but also the white was runny. The tortilla chips were a little soggy and the whole thing didn’t have much flavor. I wanted something fresh and flavorful and that just wasn’t it. The biggest disappointment was that this dish had about 1 oz of chicken. I don’t even know what to say for the price to not even get a full serving of protein was a big disappointment. The apple cider pancakes were a bit dry but the maple syrup is fresh and delish. I just can’t believe that for a brunch that was over $100 I left feeling hungry.
