I Took my fiance here for our first Valentines day and our first time here to The Lucky Rooster
The atmosphere wasn’t what we expected for the food and hospitality we received. It was very welcoming and simple ,but the food was like you were at a real Italian restaurant
We had risotto, wagyu and sirloin along with a hazelnut tart dessert that was utterly unbelievable! The espresso martini was one of the best I’ve ever had ☕️
The wine was delicious as well
We live quite a hike from this location and it was a reservation I made not too far from an event we were attending at the Gilmore Car Museum which was a half hour or so from The Lucky Rooster.
We will 100% come here again as we were so taken back by our wonderful server, friendly guests near us and the incredible dishes we were served. First impressions are everything and they did not disappoint on a day that was bustling with couples for a very popular occasion.
Thank you again from us
The menus are on tablets, and if you tap on the name of the dish, it opens up a window with the price, a photo, and a description. If I remember correctly, it also had recommended wine pairings for some of them. Pretty neat!
We were seated right by the fireplace and I thought it was very cozy.
I took some quick photos of our food, but didn’t think of it soon enough for some of it– for example, the baked brie with cherry compote (amazing) was gone before I thought of it, unfortunately. The pickle dip picture is from when it was almost gone.
The pasta with the chicken cutlet was great, I loved the texture and flavor, and the slightly spicy vodka sauce went really well with it. Definitely get the peas with it, it was awesome.
The polenta bites were crisp and tasty.
The potato leek soup was creamy and delicious.
We sampled some desserts, too. The little cookie skillet was delightful. I don’t like coffee, so I didn’t try the tiramisu, but I’m told it was great– apparently the coffee taste was very mild, so maybe I should have tried it. The best dessert we tried, though, in my opinion, was the apple caramel sundae. It had candied walnuts on it that were just amazing.
We were there on Christmas Eve for lunch, and there was some truly awful Christmas music playing the whole time, but it was pretty easy to tune out or laugh at. (Disco Christmas covers, the “Taking Care of Business” guy with his very lazy remake “Taking Care of Christmas,” etc.) I hope the employees have some control over that, because it would be terrible to be trapped in the building for 8 hours with those songs on repeat.
We were very much looking forward to dinner, and we understand that kitchens aren’t perfect. The lack of care on behalf of the restaurant as a whole is what made this a one-star experience overall.
My team ordered the chicken alfredo and the chicken parmesan. I ordered the 6oz Filet Mignon Served with Arancini Crab Cakes, Ham wrapped asparagus and Tarragon Sauce to go. It was good. They did not give me the steak sauce I requested but I survived. The ham wrapped asparagus was different but tasty and so were the crab cakes. I would definitely return to this restaurant. A definite go to in BC. My only call out is the parking situation. If it is busy parking can be tricky.
Also, the service was phenomenal. Our server gave us really great suggestions, like the house salad with the homemade dressing. Get out of town! Also a fantastic recommendation.
The food itself was outstanding and extremely memorable. Literally everything we tried we raved about.
The lasagna was easily three servings for a normal person, and no one should skip the Marsala Waygu pasta. WOW.
My only regret is that I won’t be back in town anytime soon so that I can go and try something else.
The food was delicious and portions were fairly generous. Coffee was individually French-pressed and excellent and served with cream on the side.
I like my tomato soup creamy, so I asked for extra cream and was graciously accommodated and the end result was so good.
Our party of three had sandwiches and soup….all excellent.
Two of us had dessert, which was also very good.
Can’t speak to dinner (yet) but definitely recommend for lunch and we’ll likely be back when next in the area.
