If you’re looking for quality food, great customer service and efficiency, Lucky Cafe is the place! We own a Jiu Jitsu school right down the street and our classes end somewhat late. Several times I’ve called in our dinner order “late” and every time she answers she’s always super friendly, our order is always correct and the food is always hot/fresh! Easily some of the best Chinese food I’ve ever had, but DEFINITELY the best Chinese food I’ve had since moving to Gaston County! 10/10 recommend!

After reading the good reviews I had high hopes I had finally found a good Chinese spot. It was okay. Maybe I got the wrong item. Chicken and cashews, eatable but would never get again. Chicken wings okay, crab ragoons okay as well, and the sauce could definitely have been better.

My wife and I were looking for some Chinese food for dinner. We have been ordering from this restaurant for over ten years. We had not had the chance to order since the pandemic, so we decided this would be a good time.
We called from the car and ordered General Tso’s chicken, extra spicey with four spring rolls. This dish had been our usual order, so we thought we would see if it had changed. Before, we always saw what we assumed to be the mother, the dad cooking, and her son taking orders. We watched him grow up. It will not surprise me if he is off to college. `We had to go to the Food Lion next door, so we did that before heading into the restaurant.
From the outside, it looked like the sign was maybe broken. You could not read the Lucky part. This might be something the landlord needs to fix. They used to have a very small seating area inside. We had always assumed that most of their business was takeout. I would imagine the pandemic made it, so they just went 100 percent takeout orders.. I do not fault them for that choice.
Our order was ready when we arrived. One this I have always appreciated about this location was its sanitation score. I have never seen anything lower than a 99, and usually, it’s a 100. It was the same this visit. Our food was what we remembers from the last time. The chicken was cooked well. The sauce was spiced to our liking. We spent $15 odd dollars and would do so again. We would, and do recommend this to other peopl.

Definitely recommend checking this restaurant out. I’d say the prices are slightly higher than Chinese restaurants in Charlotte, but the food quality and taste is way better. Crab Rangoons are the best I’ve ever had. Pictured is the lunch beef & broccoli (few bites already taken there is way more beef than what it looks like).

Best Chinese food I’ve had in the continental US, this spot is a family favorite. Great steamed dumplings, hot & sour soup, egg rolls, crab Rangoon, fried rice, gen. Tso’s chicken, garlic shrimp or chicken, sweet & sour chicken… we’ve tried a lot of their dishes it’s always hard to decide.

My family and I used to frequent this place quite a bit when we first moved to the area almost two years ago. Unfortunately, we’re going to have to take our business elsewhere. For the past few visits, we’ve noticed that the sweet & sour sauce has been runnier than usual and the fried rice has less flavor. We gave them the benefit of the doubt a few tries later. However, this past visit was the straw that broke the camel’s back.
Not only was the sweet & sour sauce runnier, but my husband’s beef & broccoli was swimming in water…YES, I SAID WATER!!! Instead of the thicker sauce it’s supposed to be in…The crab rangoons are now only 15, instead of the 16 pieces, but the price remains the same. The fried rice has almost no flavor. Yet, the prices keep going up!! They are clearly cutting back on ingredients to save on costs, but charging their customers the same or higher prices for less quality. That’s not okay!
I hate that we have to go elsewhere because this spot was closest to home, but we’re not going to continue to pay their prices for less quality of food. Very disappointed.
