Luce has been on the “to visit” list for quite some time. Glad that I finally had the chance to experience this great spot! It is a cute corner restaurant on Burnside. We lucked out with timing and didn’t have to wait for a table. Because of its popularity and limited seating, you can expect to wait for a bit. Highly recommend going right next door for a pre-dinner drink while you wait. We were warmly greeted by Monica then served by Andrew. Everyone was very kind and welcoming. Andrew made great food and drink recommendations! We tried a bit of everything. Had the mushrooms, salad, tagliatelle, and fettuccine. The fettuccine was one of the best pastas I’ve ever had. So light / delicate. The sauce was amazing! We then enjoyed a few different desserts. The pana cotta was incredible one of the best I’ve ever had! We will absolutely be back. Highly recommend!

The pasta was so delicious and the waitstaff were all so kind and helpful. I can’t wait to come back here and try a different dish. I would recommend coming in as a pair or a trio since seating is limited. We had 3 in our party and came at 5:20 and had to wait almost an hour (we were prepared for this and it was no issue), so keep that in mind!

This is a classic Italian spot we have gone to whenever we want a fun, cute night out. Quite often there are also solo diners just enjoying the atmosphere! They always have fun new options and delicious classics. Great extensive wine menu. Their handmade pastas are amazing, and are offered in full and half sizes. We like to split and share, and 2 half sizes plus a salad is always perfect. Add an appetizer if you need a bit more. We got the Radiatore with lamb & saffron, and I believe the cavatelli with pesto. NOTE there can sometimes be a wait, but luckily a sister-wine bar, bar Martina, opened next door and you can even order a bottle there and finish it during your meal. perfect place to wait!

The food was incredible and there was a huge wine selection. Our server was very helpful in our wine selection. The atmosphere is cozy yet sophisticated. We had a wonderful time. We were there for a small birthday dinner but it is a lovely date spot if you get on the wait-list early.

Hands down my favorite restaurant in all of Portland! I’ve eaten here countless times and it never gets old.

So many options for having a dairy restriction.

My perfect order:
Fennel Salad
Octopus and Potato
Clams and Spaghetti
Stuffed Trout
Pork Chop
Cabbage
Cauliflower and Pine Nuts

They have lovely wines. The entire crew is amazing and Andrew is the best!

Wow, just amazing good. We were blown away by every thing we ordered, and the fact that they allow half plates is such an act of generosity and lets you try more things. Get there early, they don’t do reservations and there might be a wait.

Love this place. I always get the Tagliatelle with beef and pork ragu! Tried the crostini cod and rabbit liver, both were tasty. Dessert was excellent – poached pear was my favorite.

Super cozy spot and everything was delicious. I really like how they have half and full options for the salads and pasta so you can get a variety to share. The staff are all very welcoming, and made the experience feel very homey and relaxed.

After three separate attempts, we finally managed to eat at Luce on a night with no other plans, knowing the wait would be long. We arrived at 5pm, were quoted about an hour, and were seated closer to 90 minutes later. We passed the time at their wine bar next door, which was lovely — and the restaurant itself is undeniably adorable inside. Cozy, charming, and full of atmosphere. I genuinely loved the vibe and felt excited to finally be there. Given the hype surrounding Luce and the effort it takes to get a table, expectations were understandably very high by the time we sat down.

Unfortunately, the food itself was very hit or miss.

The focaccia was genuinely disappointing and one of the most mediocre versions I’ve ever had, which immediately set off some alarm bells given the restaurant’s reputation. The octopus and potato salad, however, was excellent — beautifully cooked and well balanced — and briefly restored our confidence.

The pasta was where things really fell apart. I had the tagliatelle with beef and pork ragù, and while it wasn’t bad, it was completely forgettable. For a restaurant so highly regarded for its pasta, I was expecting something memorable or crave-worthy, and this just wasn’t it.

Dessert was also underwhelming. Several items were unavailable, and we ended up ordering the flourless chocolate cake, which was fine but very forgettable — not the best way to end an anniversary dinner.

Overall, nothing was outright bad, but the inconsistency was frustrating, especially after such a long wait and so much hype. The atmosphere is lovely, but for Italian food, you can do much better in Portland than this.

So cute. Friendly staff. Food is delicious. Get the bread. House Red was a big yum.

First come first serve and a small space! Expect to wait especially if you’re with a group that is bigger than 2
