We’ve recently rediscovered the great food at Luby’s and have been eating there often for months now.
The CRAWFISH ETOUFFEE served (most Fridays) is superb and I look forward to it every Friday! Unfortunately the holidays put a kink in the scheduling so they have not had it for two weeks.
UPDATE:
We’ve been back to eat at Luby’s and we were not charged for our waters. This was before the positive management reply was posted to my review. Thanks Luby’s for providing such a great variety of fresh food choices at affordable prices!

Very good food quality for a cafeteria. A great selection of entrees. Clean, modern, well lit. Staff on the steam line did a good job though moved in slow motion. Wait staff checked up on everyone in the dining room every few minutes.

I went through the drive-through so I can’t rate the atmosphere. The food and service were excellent. I’m sorry their restaurants are so few and far between, but thrilled the recipes remain true to form. Liver and onions, cabbage, sweet potatoes, cornbread, etc. I had to leave Mesquite to go to southern Dallas county, but the drive was scenic, and the food very well worth it!

I visited this location to purchase soup. The soup was potato soup, so thought, when I arrived home it only leftover mashed potatoes sold as potato soup, they even bother to make it like a liquid form like soup, I just had thick mashed potatoes. I try to support businesses ran in a black neighborhood, this is last time after buy bowls potato soup and an entire spending 41.00. I am truly disappointed. They are selling food under false pretends.This is my last visit.

Nice dining for family or date. My family goes here after church to eat. Cafeteria style. Good food, soul food & fresh. The only place where I know I can always get me some good beef liver w/grilled onions. They have a variety of lil of everything. Our waitress was “Awesome”. They have another location in DeSoto, Texas. They’re located in Dallas, Texas. They’re also reasonable.

I haven’t been to any Lubys’ location in 30 years, but for some reason I had a craving for it today. I am completely dissatisfied with the food and service. Whoever took my order in the drive thru was not knowledgeable about anything and I was given misinformation on top of that! My order was wrong and tasteless, even after it was corrected. Literally, NO flavor whatsoever. I ordered the chicken fried chicken, mashed potatoes and mac n cheese with brown gravy. None of these items had any flavor at all. The manager, Matthew, tried to make me happy but I was furious by then. Maybe I’ll wait another 30 years before returning. To add insult to injury, the meal doesn’t even include a drink, it’s separate. I threw my meal in the trash at work. Nearly $15 wasted!!!!

Luby’s Cafe
First time I’ve ever been to Luby’s Cafe. It does remind me of the old S.S. Cafe❤️ and Piccadilly’s❤️. These type of food places really need to make a comeback. My meal was enjoyable and well cooked. The service at the front counter was welcoming. The people serving my food were very friendly and informative on my choices. At the end as I was checking out, the price was reasonable for the amount of food that I got. I definitely see why older crowds and people in the know like to patronize these type of cafe establishments.

It used to be really good. Now they are doing the least. I guess because it stays packed so why change right. Wrong because of our patronage they were able to save that business. Their food used to be seasoned that was the draw none of the other lubys didnt seem to know anything about seasonings but this one did. Not anymore. I ordered the fried fish, with cabbage and mashed potatoes. The fish was overcooked so it had no taste. The cabbage was white with a sprinkle of bacon. I think that 1 piece of bacon was used for the entire day because there were no other seasonings on the cabbage but especially not the mashed potatoes. I couldn’t even finish my plate it was so bland. Now the drive through os the only way I can order there despite the rude people thats always taking the orders. However inside is too triggering theres tons of older people in there just lingering too close and the rest of the staff is super rude inside so no. Anyway that was my last trip because for all that effort just to get a bland plate of food no thanks. The prices are ok but not when you know ur getting something barely edible.
