Have wanted to visit for a long time after seeing on The Daytripper. Finally went today. It was quaint underwhelming and very unmemorable. Our steaks had one seasoning (garlic powder) and were not grilled, but griddled so they weren’t pleasant to the eye. The bacon around my filet was grey and rancid tasting. The salad bar has non-nutriotious iceberg lettuce mix and a couple of toppings. It was a letdown, for sure. The upside…I brought our steaks home and applied some Meat Church seasoning and warmed in a skillet and they were much better!

The steaks were tenderized and grilled exactly to our request. We ordered a 35-ounce top sirloin for two but could have fed four or five. The three appetizers were a great deal. We had onion rings, fried jalapeño slices, and fried cheese sticks. The rolls were warm and soft. We had salads from the salad bar. I tried jalapeño ranch dressing. No, we couldn’t eat it all. We had to take three take-home plate dinners. This is a truly good steak house where you wouldn’t expect one.

What a steak house should be. Rustic, simple, and classic. None of the nonesense gimmicks you find in chain steak houses. Ordered the sirloin and it was perfectly cooked medium. I wish other steak houses had salad bars like this place. It’s nothing fancy, but a simple salad with quality ingredients is the icing on the cake. The server was very attentive. My only complaints are the fried pickles are enough for 6 people and I could only eat half of their smallest steak. I’m not a big person. I’m coming back next time I’m in the area.

Stopped by for lunch (for first time in ashamed to say). The burger was great, but the chicken fried steak was something else entirely. This is my new favorite chicken fried steak in Texas. It’s light but flavorful and just better version of the “normal” chick fried steak than I’ve ever had. I want to recreate this for sure.

We love eating here every time we visit the area. The food is consistently delicious, friendly West Texas staff, and comfortable atmosphere. Begin with those delicious onion rings. Nobody knows how to prepare them any tastier. For a couple, we recommend ordering KC Sirloin for one with a setup. Four large pieces of steak and all the trimmings for two people. You’ll leave with some food to go. We will be back.

Lowake is all about feeding lots of people good food. The entire place it set up to feed folks with minimum wait and lots of good quality food. Their salad bar has 4 serving lines, tables are long and chairs are simple. But the staff is very helpful and the portions are large.

Delicious steak! Great cut portion on my bone in ribeye, perfectly cooked (medium), and seasoned just enough to add to the quality of the beef! Service was excellent (thanks Kelsey)…ambiance was unpretentious and laid back. The place is huge so it would be great for large dinner gatherings. I highly recommend!

I ordered the steak fingers with brown gravy and Mac & Cheese. The fingers had a tasty house breading. The Mac & Cheese was pretty tasty (mine is better!). The brown gravy was gravy. The dinner rolls were simply awesome!
The atmosphere was typical country diner. Raw concrete floors, and an eclectic mix of tables and chairs.
The service was quite good. Drinks were always topped off, and the wait staff was always smiling.
All in all, definitely worth the drive to give it a try.

My wife and I went to Lowake Steakhouse for supper a few days ago. I had the ribeye and my wife had the dinner steak. During the meal we both said ” this is the BEST steak we have ever eaten. Our server was great and the restaurant is really clean and very nice and comfortable. We will definitely be going back soon.
