I grew up in the neighborhood behind Lovin Oven and have been going to this bakery since it first opened. Everything I have ever tried here is amazing!!! Classic and delicious, everything is a decadently sweet bite of nostalgia. The cakes melt in your mouth, highly recommend the mint chocolate one! The danishes are a wonderful sweet treat. The chocolate mouse boat is heavenly!! I’m not a fan of sugar cookies but I even like theirs! And pro-tip: if you like banana cream, order a banana boat!!! It’s not on their daily menu anymore but you can order it in advance for pick up!

I was waited on promptly, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I loved the variety of individual cake slices. I picked out my dad’s favorite…a red velvet cake slice to celebrate his 82nd birthday. In addition, I chose the peanut butter and salted caramel cake slices for me and my husband. A First time visit and absolutely a delight to see such wonderfully decorated baked goods. The cozy atmosphere was meticulously decorated for Valentine’s Day with plenty of space to sit and enjoy the sugar filled goodness. Loved the wedding cake display as well. It is the largest bakery I’ve been in but I couldn’t say if it’s the biggest geographically. I wouldn’t be surprised to know if it’s the biggest in the state. A must visit destination and it will be sure to fill your sugar addiction to your hearts content. Definitely recommended and please view the photos of why you should visit. Unfortunately I couldn’t add the review of the tastes/flavors but I can only imagine how great everything we purchased tastes. Check it out if you’re in the area, you won’t be disappointed!

Run far away from this “bakery” and spend your money elsewhere. I have been a customer for 30 years and I cannot believe how downhill this place has gone. The reviews say it all, over and over again. Overpriced, stale cake and bakery items. Writing on cakes looks like a child did it…. again, go to Antioch because that’s where all the cake decorators are, ugh. The display windows are not even filled anymore like they used to be. Owners are well aware and absolutely don’t care as it shows in many ways. The real down grade was when they opened their Antioch location. They clearly cater to that location only. I can’t count the number of times they mention Antioch for all of my needs, so why even go to my hometown RLB location??? At this point it’s very clear to see that the Round Lake Beach location is hard to run for them and should just close and they focus on Antioch since they are already doing that. Shameful at best.

We had Lovin Oven create our cake for our wedding last October. We met with Stephanie to pick the design and flavors of the cake and she did an amazing job walking us through the process. First off, our cake turned out STUNNING. And of course, the cake was absolutely delicious! We would definitely recommend Lovin Oven if you are looking for the best wedding cake you can get!

Highly recommend Lovin Oven Cakery for custom wedding cakes! Was recommended by my cousin and didn’t disappoint. I really wanted a 2 tier wedding cake for 30 people and they were able to make the order over the phone with exactly the designs and flavor I wanted. It was so soft and delicious, not too sweet.
