Today was my first time trying this restaurant. After reviewing the menu online I made reservations for 7 to celebrate my cousins birthday. I was very excited to try it out and was hoping to love it but things didn’t go as I’d hoped.

The food; sadly as excited as I was to dine here, the food was SO SALTY, it blew all of our palettes and we all only took a few bites of our meal. My daughter got the mussels and those were the only thing that weren’t a salt bomb. The dirty rice, the Cajun green beans, the gumbo and the salmon while were cooked properly were over seasoned and couldn’t taste anything but salt. Everyone else in our party couldn’t finish their meals due to the high salt content also.

While the food was disappointment; everything else about this place was great.

we were greeted enthusiastically upon and they were also very accommodating when all of our party wasn’t there at our reservation time; still allowing us to be seated without wait once everyone arrived.

The service was exceptional. Our waitress Toni was very kind and helpful. She checked on us regularly and even was willing to make suggestions on the menu. There was another gentlemen that worked there that was also a pleasure to work with but I didn’t catch his name. There was an officer on duty there that helped take our pictures and helped us move all our belongings from outside to inside when the bees were becoming a bother.

The atmosphere was also great. Apparently on Thursdays live have a live band and singer. The young lady singing was very talented and the owner I believe asked her to sing happy birthday to my cousin which was very special and much appreciated.

I’d definitely come again on a Thursday evening to enjoy the music and maybe just drink a beverage.

Again while the food wasn’t great I am so pleased with the service. I love when I visit a black owned business with exceptional staffing and atmosphere

Okay… Loved Bayou.. The salmon? Crispy on the outside, juicy inside. The dirty rice? So flavorful, I legit wanted seconds. This combo hits every time. 10/10

I’m writing this review and I aint even get the check yet lol this food surprised me and exceeded my expectations easily. The food was delicious, flavorful and really fresh. Surprisingly fresh. The Marty gras empanadas are the highlight. I don’t really mess with cheese or seafood but daaaamn they did they thing. I got the Turkey rib dinner, fuggin phenomenal and packed with good. The cocktails are really good and have a Nola kick to em lol . I also got cornbread, red beans and rice and the bourbon street smashed. I’m lowkey smashed . I’m coming back with big T for her birthday but it’s going to be our first time. Come check em out y’all. The food and plating was great but I had to drive in immediately – 1/27/25 – hey y’all, I’m back, with better photos, this place was sooooooo damn good. I don’t understand why it’s empty in a Sunday night but I don’t care. I got Turkey ribs again, my date had the catfish dinner and she scraped the bowl haha. The cocktails are pricey but you’ll taste why. I got the French quarter fizz and was speaking creole by the time I finished . Peep the photos.

We ordered the catfish which came with red beans and rice as well as green beans. I wish the fish was served on a separate plate or to the side because the wet sides can make the fish soggy, but we quickly moved the fish to a saucer once it was served so it was fine. Everything was very well seasoned and cooked very well.

I went the other day for the soft opening. We ordered Cajun mussels, catfish, and the yaks mein bowl. The food was pretty good. The garlic bread that came with the mussels was great the mussels themselves were ok. Catfish was very flavorful and the sides were decent. The yaks mein bowl was flavorful, I just wish it came with a thinner noodle more similar to ramen as it has a broth more like a soup vs a pasta. For drinks, I got a Hibiscus lemon drop. The first one she brought out, the waitress told me right away that it was made incorrectly because it was the wrong color. They had it remade and it was one of the worst drinks I’ve had. The flavor tasted very watered down and it was warm. The drinks are quite expensive to be such bad quality. The price reflects hand-crafted cocktails, not something made from a watered-down pre-made mix. The service was incredibly slow and it took 40 minutes to get our appetizer, the service will hopefully improve with time.

This was my first time visiting this restaurant and the service wasn’t too welcoming. We paid for our order with cash and waited awhile to get the change back because the server decided to help someone else who walked in the door instead of finishing with our order. I ordered the catfish dinner which was good but the green beans needed to be drained because it made the fish and red beans and rice soggy. Green beans were yummy though and red beans and rice were great as well. Overall, I would say it’s worth giving them a chance, might return to see if service and watery beans improved.

Came in on a slow Friday evening, despite being the only customers in the restaurant. Service was poor and slow, Certain menu items were unavailable, Catfish Poboy was great but literally everything else was lukewarm and NOT GOOD. Music was terrible, little to no decor at all almost empty looking. I didn’t feel see or experience any “LOVE” or anything reminiscent of a “Bayou” whatsoever. Worst restaurant experience I’ve had in a while.

This food is so good! I’m vegan, so I was so happy to see they had vegan gumbo and jambalaya. Because I can never find places that make that vegan! It was so good, I’m so glad I found this place
