Reviews
The Brussels sprouts were great, the spinach & artichoke dip was a bit bland but the pita chips they serve with it were really good. I love fried green tomatoes so I was excited that they were in the menu but they were just OK, maybe out of season or something. I had the smash burger and I loved it. My friend had the tater tot balls and they were yummy, but my Cesar salad was sad & plain.
They have a wide variety of wines, I did the Highlands flight and it included a delicious Lambrusco and an Italian white wine that I loved. They didn’t have a traditional sangria which i was hoping for.
Overall, I enjoyed the experience and would go again for another nice, quiet wine tasting & drinks with friends but not really for the food alone.
There’s a great variety of drinks and I appreciate the puns on the menu.
Highly recommend the bacon. It’s cooked perfectly crisp.
The pancake tacos were good, especially with the spicy maple syrup that actually had a noticeable ‘kick’ to it.
I don’t recommend the fried green tomatoes. They were too bready and the tomato was tough.
Donuts were delicious with a biscuit-like texture, but I’m not sure if the icing was supposed to be the consistency of milk.
The food was a big hit with everyone. Two of us tried the June special, TOCORASHI CRUSTED AHI TUNA and it both agreed it was outstanding! Fresh tuna seared and crusted with a wonderful flavor. It was a good size piece of tuna and brought out hot. Others tried the Airline chicken and I believe one tried the Salmon and another the hamburger. All were satisfied completely.
Happy hour is a good time to go for some good deals. We had fried green tomatoes for an appetizer and it turned out to be one of the best we have had. Breading was loaded with flavor and the sauce was a nice accompaniment. Spinach Artichoke dip with fresh fried triangles was also delicious.
For dessert we had the Beignets that were complementary for one of our couples celebrating their anniversary. Everyone snarfed them up quickly and it was the perfect end to our meal. Plan on having them now for my next visit.
Service was over the top. Way over! Our waiter, Fred was very professional and was attentive without being overbearing. He handled our table of eight with the skill of a seasoned veteran. If you do go, ask for Fred. He will not disappoint. I thought the prices were very reasonable, especially given the high quality and quantity. If you’re looking for a good restaurant to take a date, this is it! This was my first visit but won’t be my last. I look forward to my next visit.
Big but here: did the chef change? Because the recipes we came to love and return for year after year were not nearly as good when we went last week. The Brussels sprouts- their claim to fame!- were al dente at best, let alone “crisp” as they’re supposed to be. No cherry peppers, no champagne vinegar (can you tell I have the recipe?); we ate about a third of them. Yuck.
Mackenzie was attentive and wonderful, but she could not make up for the shrimp and grits tasting like Quaker instant, minus the flavor. And the Steak & Frites? I’ve trimmed the stuff I was served OFF the cuts of steak I’ve prepared at home.
We were one of only 6 tables on a Friday night so maybe the word has already gotten out? And we just didn’t know? Everything tasted like no thought was put into it, like someone hurried it out the door despite there being no rush. Bummer to be sure.
In addition, we waited nearly an hour for our food despite having a prepaid reservation, and the overall service throughout the evening was very poor.
We weren’t expecting perfection — just the experience that was discussed and paid for in advance. For nearly $200, the lack of preparation and attention to detail was disappointing.
Hopefully this was just an off night, but based on our experience, it did not meet expectations.
My step dad was served a room temperature beer, and my mom a sweet wine instead of the Pinot Grigio she ordered. The server was awesome and corrected that right away. But the worst part was the food.
My $45 steak ordered medium was EXTREMELY well done, I’m talking black burnt. My mom’s fried green tomatoes were cooked to the point of hockey pucks she couldn’t eat. The ‘gravy’ on top of the fries for the steak frites were globs of congealed room temperature brown goo.
Just entirely disappointing food considering the price point. The service was wonderful and the atmosphere beautiful, but the food is abismal.
