Great spot for cocktails and small plates. The beef tartare was well balanced with a restrained touch of mustard, and the cocktail menu was creative. Moité-Moité is one of my new favorite cocktails in the area. Mains were hit or miss, duck was bit overcooked, steak frites came with fries that were quite oil-soaked, while the braised half chicken was nicely tender. Onion soup skewed salty. Overall, best enjoyed for drinks and small plates.

We visited Loursin restaurant today, and from the very beginning, the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Unlike some other reviews, we found the service to be genuinely hospitable. The food was delicious — a bit on the saltier side for my taste, but still very good.

Our server, Jack, was helpful, attentive, and open to feedback. The onion soup was outstanding — even better than what we tried in Paris!

Overall, the experience was great, though it’s on the pricier side with a 20% service charge included.
A lovely evening and a great dining experience.

Really wanted to like this place but it was just so disappointing, I’m not really sure why it has so many 5 star reviews. The service was lackluster (while including automatic gratuity on the bill), and the food was so salty, almost inedible. We ordered the paté en croute, cassoulet, steak frites, and French onion soup. The steak was so MEH (for $45!!!) and the cassoulet was like eating a chunk of salt (for $50 ). If you’ve been to France, you know paté is supposed to have a nice soft texture that you can enjoy with bread, this one was oddly hard and sausage-ey textured. The French onion soup was alright but who charges $20 for soup. I can think of 20 other restaurants in the area where I would get way better food, and not spend $200+. Service was okay, our server was nice, but the busser was not…

We will not be back.

Visited here the 30th of December, 2025. It’s a decent little French place. A bit pricey for taste of food. Got Oysters, Bread & Butter, Fries, Escargot, Steak Frites, and Créme Brulee and Handmade Ice Cream.

Bread
It’s bread. Well baked. Nice and crunchy and fresh. Butter could have been a bit softer but I’m cherry picking here. 7/10.

Oysters
Wasn’t too fishy, about average cost of oysters. Champagne Mignonette was flavored okay, not enough for the half dozen I got. 7/10

Fries
Mom got a side of fries and I also had fries with my Steak. The fries were very crispy and plenty was given. Well flavored. 8/10

Escargot
I’ve never had this before so can’t compare it against other Escargot, but it was made in a parsley butter and couldn’t really taste “snail”. Just tasted like decently cooked meat. Had some bite to it. Kinda tastes like chicken I guess. Didn’t hate it or love it. Wouldn’t seek it out or run from it if given to me again. 6/10

Steak & Frites
The plating made this a bit annoying because the meat was buried under all the fries which made cutting it difficult. The quality of the steak was good and it was cooked well (a bit under cooked for me personally as it was like a medium rare and I prefer medium but that’s fine). It’s cooked in a cognac like cream sauce. It’s got a kick to it and I felt by the end of the steak I was overwhelmed with that constant punch of flavor in the mouth. I’d still say this was good and would try it again. 6.5/10.

Assorted Ice Cream
Got the caramel mixed with apple and pear, it was fine. Didn’t impress me. Not my kinda ice cream. It was smooth though. 5/10.

Créme Brulee
This was delicious. I’d have to try it again to confirm but I think it’s the best Créme Brulee I’ve ever had. The shell was perfect and the cream was nice and refreshing and whipped well. Very good. 9/10.

Service
It was busy. Service was good. Server wasn’t rude. Checked on us often enough. Not extraordinary or anything.

Price
This is in the middle of expensive and not cheap for a lot of the dishes. For everything we ordered it came out to $173 with tip (20% mandatory tipping establishment added automatically, you can request this removed though). For me, price is a bit high for good foods mixed with mids. I’d visit again for the ambiance. It’s very quaint and cute. But the menu limited and not my top pick I’d choose for French.

Overall,
7/10⭐

We had an amazing meal with wonderful wait staff who were very helpful and gave us plenty of time to converse and enjoy all of the dishes. We ordered over half of the menu for our group of four and we’re thoroughly sated. The oysters were as absolutely fresh and sweet as they could be. The pate, the tartar and the smelt were top notch.

We ordered oysters, snails, fish and steak.
From all of it the best were two first. Fish was with super sweet and having corn made it even more. You could not taste fish at all. The mint leaves helped to break the sweet flavor but I wouldn’t recommend it.
Th steak was okay definitely better than fish dish. We ordered also two wines (red and white) both recommended to dish. The red one was very watery witb little bite. Not our fav.
The anniversary candles on paper were weird.

Tried this French restaurant, located in the Central District area. It is situated at the crossroads of First Hill, Capitol Hill and Central District.

We tried various items on the menu, but probably should have sticked to the small plates. The XOXO TOMMY was recommended but I was not impressed with the drink. Should have trusted my gut and tried their version of the Espresso Martini instead. As for food, the salad and prawns were my favorite dishes. I was however disappointed with the steak-frites. Was expecting it to taste better, but the texture seemed off for me. Almost reminded me of roast beef but more rare. The sauce was not amazing either. I think if I go back, I would try their chicken instead.

Also, we were there for our anniversary dinner and marked this on the Resy reservation, but it wasn’t acknowledged. We also specified the dietary preferences, but were still asked about it. I guess the info from the Resy reservation was either ignored or not received. Would have been nice if it was acknowledged to set-up the dinner.

Overall, the food was great and will likely go back, but stick to smaller plates only.

Loved this place! The Burgundy snails were amazing — super flavorful and tender. They have a great wine selection, and the food is a nice mix of French style with a bit of American twist. Prices are on the higher side with a 20% service fee, but overall it’s totally worth it. Perfect spot for a date night.

This place was super crowded, but for good reason! We enjoyed the food a lot and the service was great. The decor is simple without being boring, which gives the whole spot a really nice, chill vibe.

Our specific server was comme ci, comme ça, but the rest of the staff were trés bien and seemed really nice. The food and drinks were both superb. I would definitely come back and sit at the bar.
